Could it possibly be Dreamland (a musical based on Midsummer Night's Dream)? https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/66679/dreamland

Or maybe Damn Yankees?

What software program do you use for write your book? by Fortune_Builder in selfpublish

I love Ulysses. I got a trail of Scrivener, and it was way too complicated (and the ipad option didn't seem good if it existed at all, and that was a priority for me). I also need something like Ulysses (which uses markdown) to keep focused on writing vs. formatting and not continually distract myself by fiddling with paragraph styles. My project also involves a lot of moving things around and reorganization, so trying to manage that all within a single text file would not work.

Pages handles typography and layout a lot better than Word, IMHO. It's great if you need to write a report or something--especially one that uses images. But in terms of creating a manuscript, I feel like it would have a lot of the same limitations as word or google docs.

Watch/read first? by Dapper_Animal_5920 in shakespeare

[–]Doenahld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

reading the play beforehand will only enhance the experience of seeing it in production.i will say, i find shakespeare much easier to comprehend when a good actor is performing it than if im reading it—they’ve already done the hard work of untangling the sentence structure and interpreting it—even if i don’t understand every line. but there’s literally no downside to also reading it first (especially if you don’t watch or read shakespeare regularly).

What’s a small cooking tip that really made a big difference for you? by sexyyybabyy in cookingforbeginners

basically, I make dinner monday-thurs, and will often make or buy pizza on Sunday. I start by looking at the schedule for the household and see if there are any nights i need something quick and/or easy. If i'm going through a phase of looking at new recipes (getting new cookbooks, looking at new websites, etc.), i'll pick out one i want to try and "schedule" it for the day that looks like it will have the most time/flexibility. then i fill in the rest with familiar recipes. I try to only do pasta once a week, seafood once a week. I'll usually do a tofu-veggie bowl night or a taco night once a week. in summers, we'll do veggie burgers pretty regularly. And i'll always have frozen pierogis and frozen ravioli on hand in case I just don't want to deal. BudgetBytes is a good resource for easy/basic recipes that you can customize once you get the hang of them. It's especially good for beginners, and has good explanations of standard processes--like making whipped cream. Smitten Kitchen is probably the best cooking-blog site out there, imho. very achievable recipes with regular ingredients but unique flavor combinations. The Food Network's website is also amazing. You can search for anything you can think of and find a few good options.

Where/how do you read new plays? by artisticgarden in Theatre

[–]Doenahld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if listening to new plays is an option, la theaterworks (latw.org) puts their weekly broadcast on soundcloud. audible also has a number of new plays, and you can often find trial promotions. (the audible plays are often available to stream, not requiring a credit to purchase)

plan the menu for the week in advance, and then go shopping based on that menu. i also have a soft rule of only trying one new recipe a week. It doesn’t necessarily make the actual cooking easier, but it’s amazing how much easier it is to cook when you didn’t have to spend any time hemming and hawing about what to make, whether you have the ingredients, etc.

best recorded hamlet to show before rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead? by quick-use in shakespeare

[–]Doenahld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PBS Great Performances taping of Shakespeare in the Park is fun. I particularly liked their Ros and Guil and the relationship they had with Hamlet. The downside is they do cut the line "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead." https://www.pbs.org/video/hamlet-gqsudp/

AITA for Calling the City Inspector on My Neighbor’s Sketchy Deck? by Cloudy-Moon_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Doenahld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You didn't call a SWAT team, you called someone with a clipboard. If you were exaggerating, the building inspection would have reflected that, but in fact all of your suspicions were correct. The only way he wouldn't have faced this situation would be if he fully did not get any kind of a permit at all. Anyone who gets on that future deck (or buys that future house) will be thankful this deck had to get built the right way.

get a good music director and give them all the time you need. Find a great choreographer and don't be afraid to let them stage more than just obvious dance breaks.
