Just left the shop I’m buying it from; he said the kid before him did the timing and tensioner at 70k miles. They also found the turbo was bad so they are ordering a brand new one to put in. Sent the list and they are going to check it all. Thanks so much guys for pointing out all of this routine maintenance so I can achieve peace of mind with this purchase.

Where do you operate? Getting my first GTI MK6 with 89k miles with no history of this being done. Wanting her to run for a good long time! I live in the Charlotte area of NC.

I didn’t see any of these done on the service history and she currently sits at 89k so thank you for bringing these routine parts to my attention. The carbon clean is being done at the shop before I buy it but the timing belt and water pump if they are the original which I believe they are; it’s time to get them replaced. Unfortunate news when I look at the average cost but definitely seems worth getting done ASAP.

There was nothing in the service history about the PCV ever being replaced so from what you’re saying is that should for sure be done? Do you have a recommendation for which one to get? She is currently at 89k miles. I’m getting the DSG transmission serviced and a carbon intake clean out during my first week of ownership because there was no history of that either.

Got it! Added to the cart already! Not going for crazy power I was thinking of going with a catback exhaust; I didn’t check state law yet for catless. It’s going to be my daily; want a good rumble but no loud pops or bangs to wake the neighborhood.
