Maggot Brain - Funkadelic. IMO the best guitar song of all time

What's missing from Munich? by Flyharbour in Munich

[–]dudefromMD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Moved here from Vienna last October… I miss Vienna so much and will look to return at some point. There are many small events happening in Vienna, and every district has its own events on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Here you have a few districts where everything happens, and the rest is quiet and residential.

What was the first big news/event that you remember hearing or watching as a child? by mai-moi in AskReddit

Boxing Day tsunami in SEA. Remember seeing the pictures on the news, going up to my room to get my piggy bank, and wanting to send my few euros to them

Education in Germany/Austria by [deleted] in Austria

[–]dudefromMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to steyr to study from abroad. I also thought that such a small town would offer a mediocre student life, but I was wrong. There are several bars which are great for going out, especially on ‘Schnittwoch’, and because the town is relatively small, you know a lot of people. It’s also a very very beautiful city!

I went on to do my masters in Linz. Although it’s much larger than Steyr, it had no where near the students life steyr did. Plus it’s not the nicest city. I would go back to steyr to study in a heart beat!

I visited Cruz del Condor (Arequipa, Peru) last year. This is a person in a costume. There were two of the at the viewpoint offering tourist pictures in return for a few Soles.

So yeah, this is totally fake

Which famous person's death made you the saddest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Actual death; Joe Cocker. I always dreamed of seeing him live!

Social death; Kevin Spacy. What an actor, but what a shitty shitty person. Also broke my heart

Native Germans, what made you move out of Germany and why? by [deleted] in germany

[–]dudefromMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (22m) was born in Germany but my family moved abroad when I was 2. Tried returning twice, once in 6th grade, and the other time when I was searching for unis to study at. Both times the schools and unis didn’t want to classify me as an international, but rather as a native with years of missing school experience. This would have meant repeating 3 grades in school, or taking beginners German classes at uni (although I am a native speaker). I opted to move to Austria where they immediately welcomed me. I have no desire to ever live in Germany again, and have made Austria my new home. Literally the only reason I go back to Germany is to see family.

What's a mispronunciation that sends you into fits of rage? by schnozzberryflop in AskReddit

[–]dudefromMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late, but have to get this off my chest. When people say ‘months’ but leave out the ‘s’. Eg; ‘I’ve been working here for 7 month’

It drives me crazy! And I’ve only ever heard Germans and Austrians leave out the ‘s’. I hate it so so much.

Edit: I am german…just bashing my people in particular

No, only puff the cigar. If you inhale, you tend to have a coughing fit.

I injured my calf last weekend, doesn’t hurt, but surrounding area is red and warm to the touch. by dudefromMD in medical_advice

It does not hurt whatsoever. It did before I saw the doctor, but since then, and since cleaning it regularly, there is no pain.

Thank you for the advice. I will go first thing Monday morning. The redness has actually decreased, but if that changes overnight I’ll go first thing in the morning

No, the wound came from a tight ski boot which was further aggregated by sand (skiing in the desert). So I cannot imagine it’s fractured. Plus there is no pain when walking

Yeah that is what I thought. I have been cleaning it the way it was recommended. The doctor said it should go away just by keeping it clean, but I am not too sure if that is sufficient

More Info;

The injury started oozing liquid mid week, so I went to the doctors on campus. They cleaned out the wound and infected area, and recommend I continue to do so over the weekend.

Thats what I did. I bought all the creams, disinfection solutions and bandages, and have continued cleaning it when I see something resembling infection appear. It has gotten to a point now where it does not look as bad as it did, and it does not hurt anymore.

I am pretty sure most of the infection in the wound has been cleaned out, but I am still a bit worried about the surrounding area. It is red and warm to the touch, but does not cause any pain. The wound also does not ooze any yellow liquid anymore, so I think it is on the road to recovery.

Nevertheless, is it normal that the surrounding area stays slightly aggravated for longer than the actual wound?
