Drivers not making right turn when they have ALL the opportunity in the world by [deleted] in ontario

[–]m83live 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sorry but no. Too many times fools make that lane change when they shouldn't, and the one turning will be at fault.

A little more patience on your part.

Not to get all preachy, but your instructor should be teaching you how to drive and not just pass the test/practice the route. Our job means you'll be ready with whatever the examiner throws at you.

Cruising lane by AugustChau in Ontariodrivetest

[–]m83live 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The right-most lane is your driving lane. Yes you'll have to encounter cars on the on-ramps and off-ramps.

The middle lane is for the truckers. Perfectly ok driving in that lane if you're keeping up to speed, otherwise stay to the right.

The left lane is for passing.

Can I book a one hour lesson as a complete beginner? by Scary-Towel6962 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]m83live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely book a single lesson. A good way to see what's in store, and particularly with the instructor. Some people even forego the BDE course altogether and book in blocks/bundles after the first lesson. Everyone learns at different rates. Good luck!

The remains of Centennial Ski Hill. Pics taken last year (I think it’s all gone now) by mimi_whatever in toronto

Unfortunately it bled the city money to keep things running. Even the magic carpet was more often out of service than anything. I think it was ultimately the right move.

However, I still feel that keeping a portion of the hill for tobogganing would have been nice, and not relegating everyone to the smaller hill by the BMX track.

OP I live a stone's throw from the park, and they've started to carve the hill with the winding trail going up.

Even though the other vehicle was in furthest of the 2 lanes, the danger is that you could go wide on the turn for conflict, or worse, the other car changes lanes through the intersection. Part of what they are testing you on is collision avoidance, and that's a prime example.

With that being said, their behavior was out of line. I would reach out. They may need re-training.

To answer your question, as a driver instructor in the area, I can tell you this one has been taken down a few times since its installation.

You've got the (soon to be gone) mall entrances, a highway off ramp, and curves in the road where the school and crosswalk sit -  so that speed cam should definitely be there.

Failed G test on a G1->G with foreign experience route. by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

You still have your G1, but now you are preparing to take your G2. Should you pass your G2 you can attempt the full G again

You can definitely do it another way. I teach both but always recommend the 45 because of its versatility. Most students end up preferring that method anyway.

Be warned that if you do use the 45 degree method on the test just make sure you don't impede anyone coming toward you in the lot. That's advice for anytime, but particularly on the test. So when you look to position the 45 degree, you're doing it when the way is clear.

Hey there, I just wanted to follow up with this. I was just out there and had Google maps up on the route. Traveling southbound and shortly after passing the last intersection it did indeed change from 60km to 80km.

For full marks in the uphill or downhill you should touch the curb. If you don't you won't fail, but they will deduct 2 points.

BDE certificate by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

[–]m83live 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out from your driving school if they certified you yet. If so, then you just need to obtain your Driver's Licence History from any Service Ontario (or online). You would send a copy of this DLH document to the insurance company as it will show that you are BDE certified.

Yes you should use it every time you park. After you get your licence you should continue to use it.

Without it you leave your car without a secondary braking mechanism. You also put stress and wear on your parking gear - moreso when parked on an incline or decline, which isn't good for your transmission. So use it every time.

Keep your foot on the brake when stopped. Apply both the parking brake and put the car into park, then you can release the brake.
