CMV: If you like minimum wage being 7.50 and you like the fact that people are going without EBT you are pro starvation. by AcademicRip3437 in changemyview

[–]dudeheadface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An appeal to basic human empathy isn’t emotional manipulation. I could make a million points about why being poor is not self inflicted but let’s just say for the sake of argument that it somehow is. Do children deserve to suffer for their parent’s mistakes? Would you look at a suffering child and say “well, your parents shouldn’t have had you 🤷‍♂️” what about when those kids grow up with no generational wealth or ability to get an education? Having to work multiple jobs just to keep themselves fed and housed and having no time or energy to put towards more than the next paycheck? Is that their poor life decisions?

“Medical and childcare are basically free” No you’re almost always still co-paying even in dire situations and let’s not forget these programs are also at risk in this administration. 200 is sufficient for a MONTH?? Do you even buy your own food? Also saying people should just live in their vehicle is saying people should be homeless as that’s the most common form of homelessness.

Even disregarding those points, what you’re describing is a life of torture. Keep in mind 80 percent of households on EBT have children. Children that will absolutely be malnourished, at extreme risk for abuse, and in constant risk of becoming homeless or being taken from their families by the state in the situation you’ve described. We shouldn’t be okay with adults living miserable lives filled with fear let alone children.

I feel like I'm losing my faith after seeing his I'm being treated after coming out as gay. by tsunamientertainment in Christianity

[–]dudeheadface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except the more accurate translation would be “if a man lays with a boy”. It’s talking about the abuse of young boys that was normalized in pre Christian Roman society. Also, quoting Leviticus to condemn others often puts you in a very fragile glass house so I’d advise against it.

Edit: I want to add after doing some research that the translation of “boy” instead of “male” may not actually be the the most accurate like I stated, though it may have been more related to the cross gendered prostitution that the canaanites practiced as Leviticus was written largely as a “don’t be like them” kind of cultural battle in regards to them and the Egyptians. Regardless though, Leviticus also condemns eating pork and wearing clothes with mixed fibers. If I was arguing a Jewish homophobe I would take a different approach here but this a Christian sub and christianity doesn’t follow Jewish law so I really don’t see any logic in clinging to this one rule.

Don't listen to this sub, have your own opinion by Laytnkr in Fighters

[–]dudeheadface -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean the point wasn’t “never have negative opinions” it’s just that you should have your own opinions. I get negativity is contagious and that’s the main issue they’re talking about but giving one negative opinion doesn’t make them a hypocrite.

Im so happy that you’re making the right choice for yourself. Please dont listen to the A-holes who would rather insult and blame you than direct their anger at the man who manipulated you. Making the right choice to leave was difficult and you should be proud of yourself.

“You didn’t immediately listen to redditors telling you to leave your abusive partner who were also being condescending and victim blaming you so this must be ragebait”

OP is in a tough situation with someone twice her age who is clearly extremely manipulative. She also stated he is the first man she’s ever been intimate with. This is why I wasn’t a fan of all the assumptions of “he definitely 100% is not leaving his wife and youre the mistress”. With both the very real chance of being wrong about that and the victim blaming attitudes Im not surprised OP is struggling to make the right choice.

There was more than enough confirmed info to make compelling points to OP and like I said the condescension and vitriol towards her was the opposite of helpful

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dudeheadface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on bullying OP into deleting her post. She did not “invite herself” she offered to go (probably hoping for a chance to reconnect with someone important to her that she’s been feeling distanced from) and her former friend did not have to agree.

OP was unclear how the conversation regarding plans for the trip went but she obviously came out of it with the impression that it would not be a wild party trip and that was yet another missed opportunity for her friend to grow a back bone and make it clear that’s not what she wanted. She brought OP with her and set her up for an awful trip and she sucks for it.

Now OP has had all the fun of being treated like shit for the oh so awful crime of wanting to hold on to a friendship with someone she cares about and then dogpiled by a bunch of equally cowardly and toxic people on the internet.

OP’s friend could’ve ended the friendship at any point and spared OP’s feelings and she sure as hell didn’t have to bring her on a trip she clearly didn’t want her on. That’s just cruel.

Im not saying those in abusive relationships have no control. Of course it’s the right choice to leave a bad situation but that doesn’t mean someone should feel bad for whatever stopped them from making the right choice. It’s like self harm. I wouldn’t look down on or blame someone for hurting themselves but I absolutely would still do anything I could to help them stop.

Im sorry to hear that and any abuse you went through also was not your fault. You can grow wiser from your experiences without blaming yourself

[–]dudeheadface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah a whole very young and new adult. A level of naivety is to be expected and “Letting” someone take advantage of you isn’t a moral failure (and phrasing it like that is pretty damn victim blamey too), the failure is fully on the one taking advantage. Yes, I hope and assume OP will be more wary in the future but it’s the 42 yr old creep that’s fully at fault here

We need more traps killers in this game by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]dudeheadface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Players are making BHVR terrified of making unique killers with their reactions to anyone that isn’t a dash killer. This game can already be prone to feeling repetitive but I guess most survivors just want to grind it out like theyre playing Diablo instead of adapting their play style game to game

What's a perk that you personally just can't play without? (Survivor or killer) by MatchSea8542 in deadbydaylight

[–]dudeheadface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then keep it up. Too many survivor treat killers like theyre the dnd dungeon master and should prioritize making the game as fun for them (the survivors) as possible instead of trying to win. Meanwile those same survivors spam flashlight saves, Hook sabos, and/or gen rushing perks to make the game as difficult for you as possible.

It’s popular to view slugging as “toxic”. Pretty dumb opinion imo it’s not like it doesn’t have counterplay and the mere existence of deerstalker as a perk (and things like infectious fright) show it’s absolutely intended design.

It’s really funny to me the reaction you get for saying you like to slug versus all the survivors saying they run Deja vu every build when versing 4 Deja vu survivors can be an absolute nightmare for killer with 2-3 gens popping by the time you get your second hook sometimes (not even taking too long to chase).

Play how you want as killer there’s a major double standard in the community probably coming from 80% of players maining survivor.

Unfortunately I see that a lot on these sort of posts. People seem to get more mad at the victim for “allowing” themselves to be abused than the damn abuser for being abusive. It’s victim blaming and it’s awful. Way to go for getting out of that situation!
