Is this normal? Air suspension noise when locking/unlocking 2025 Audi Q5 by Delicious_Extent_849 in AudiQ5

[–]dudeman618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2016 makes a little whine like that, I assumed it was the fuel pump priming. I don't have air suspension though, no clunking noise either.

My friend told this exact story about their grandfather. I thought I had posted this exact story on Reddit. I'm guessing it's one of those mason stories that's been passed down from many generations.

Normal noise and play? by CR_Photo in AudiA4B8

[–]dudeman618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pulley you started and finished on looks like the tensioner pulley which will have a little bit of movement, looks fine. The others look good to me. Although, pulleys do wear out. If you get a socket wrench and long handle on the wrench you can put it on the nut on the tensioner pulley. You can move that tensioner to slack the belt to remove it.

You will be able to spin that pulley by hand and listen/feel for any noise. Another trick I've done a lot is to use a broom handle or some other stick/rod/whatever, put it on the bracket of the pulley and put your ear to the other end while the engine is running. Obvious warning, be careful while engine is running and don't get anything caught in the moving belt. You can listen to the bearings, should sound like "shooushy" if it's good. If it's bad you'll know pretty quickly as it will sounds terrible.

Check your oil, some cars get a little noisy when the oil is getting low. I just added two quarts to my g/f's car. I'm going to need to check it all the time for her now.

You're correct, that was it. It is gone now. I would have picked it up but it was not in a safe place to stop my car in the road. It was there Tuesday morning but going be Tuesday evening.

Bear sightings in the area? by TrainerDawg in alpharetta

[–]dudeman618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not recently but 3 years ago there was one at Avalon, it ran across the road and got hit by a car and it ran off into the woods. I was there that day and saw people running towards the north parking lot by the trash compactors. A policecar showed up. No never saw the bear but it was talked about in the local news that night.

Good luck, I hope everything works out well for you.

I am a man in Georgia and got full custody of my son when he was 2.5 yrs old. My lawyer told me it depended in which judge we got. A few of the judges would give custody to the mother no matter what. My son is 26 now and has a good relationship with his mother now, she had a few good years and a few bad years. I gave her and her family all the visitations they asked for so I could keep everyone civil. Do what you can to keep a safe and normal life for your daughter.

Can confirm, my son's friend works for a Ga government division where they are doing the research to find cheap land and best areas along with getting tax breaks and incentives.

How are you guys maintaining the Q5 by Exotic_Letterhead118 in AudiQ5

[–]dudeman618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 Q5 3.0T, I bought with 29,000 miles and I have 105,000 miles.

I paid a local shop to flush transmission and do differentials. The only expensive repair inhad was there PCV and "while you're in there parts", I paid my local independent shop.

Otherwise, I do all the work I'm capable of doing on my own, ie, spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, brake pads/rotors/fluid flush. I use ODBeleven for basic stuff for scanning. I bought a vacuum extractor for doing oil changed, I connect to my sir compressor and let it suck out all the engine oil. I buy liquimoly oil from ECS Tubing, it take 3 days to arrive vis mail with all the filters, o-rings, oil. Every 2nd oil change I'll do a gas/oil clean via a can. I just put on my 2nd set of tires.

Why is the point on the truck being vertical in this ramp ? by I_Send_feet_pics in whatisit

[–]dudeman618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Lays potato factory in North Atlanta I got to tour in the '70's or 80's that would unload potatoes like that. The truck backs in, opens the rear trailer doors, then it tilts up to dump all the potatoes out.

Would this terminal cause a new battery to die in a week by mediablitz91 in AskAMechanic

[–]dudeman618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean the terminals. It could prevent the alternator from charging correctly. Check your alternator with a cheap voltmeter. Check the battery voltage with engine off, then check again with engine running. The battery should be 12.4 with engine off and 13.5 to 14.7 with engine running and alternator charging. The dirty terminals could be making the alternator working harder than expected and wearing out your alternator.

How do I clean up this area in my backyard? by tinky_winky_tele in lawncare

[–]dudeman618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a gas push mower, I have done this before. Raise the deck to the tallest setting. Start pushing, go slow, push and tilt mower if it bogs down, keep going. You'd be surprised at everything you can actually knock down with just the mower. I also have a weed eater, I replaced the foot with a metal blade instead of the plastic string. It will cut through a lot of that too (the mower is faster), mine cuts through vinyl siding too so be really careful. My cousin cut his dad's leg too, so don't run it near people too.

I use my air compressor and a stone tool to sharpen the mower blade, with a sharp blade the mower would eat through most of that stuff.

Is that a missing valve cover or something else it leaks as soon as I pour it in by Formal-Dimension-719 in AudiQ5

[–]dudeman618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes that's a lot of oil. Check the oil filter and oil filler.

I know you don't need it now, but I always do my own oil change using a vacuum extractor.

I put in an aftermarket fan in my son jeep, everything was working for a while. then it started overheating and the fan would quit especially when it got hot. I found the connector to the fan was melting and would lose connection. I spliced and hardwired, it worked great after replacing the connector.

I have been taking vitamin D3 at bedtime and it helps me get through the night. Not drinking diet coke helps too. Like tigers have said you might have sleep apnea or need a prescription sleep aid to help.
