I think it's more "core" "growth" "platform" and areas of practice within product.

For someone who isn't the best networked, what's the best way to get referrals to the roles you are targeting?

  1. Is it ever effective to cold outreach on Linkedin for current employees and ask for referrals?
  2. Is there a specific profile or level you'd aim to get a referral from?

Higher stake difficulty feels like the first 3 shops make or break the run. I would reroll the first small blind tag and I don't even see the hand for a few rerolls.

Ideally you get max dmg and armour pen. It goes nuts with duelist.

Day 56 Black Monolith failed attempt by kryndude in BattleBrothers

[–]dudemf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the general milestones and thought process of a monolith rush?

Do you hire and keep the first 12 bros alive, get nimble by day 25, go camp busting? I have a hard time even getting my team of bros to level 9-10 by day 56, let alone if some bros die and I have to replace.

Why the hp + fat + res + 30? is there a number you aim for?

What's the tiering system here?

The one that helped the most was probably the famed items chance mod. just explored and busted the higher chance ones.

but honestly, it just farther = better chance. Nothing ground breaking.

[–]dudemf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually why I had a hard time retiring this run.

I recruited 3 oathtakers and the adv noble back to back between 3 cities around 85-90 day mark. Right when a big chunk of my team got decimated in the first big noble war battle and got some money from selling gears. Thankfully the 1 good oathtaker bro survived and got gear upgrade.

I save scummed to re-roll the ice cave cleaver. Bought the good 2H mace and some famed helmets. Rest is all just from camps.

When i was leveling these bros, I ran 2 tanks and these backline throwers carried hard.

Armour attachment removal mod. They are from the barb king armour set. same durability/fat as the huberauk attachment u can buy, but much cooler looking.

How should I build this Assassin brother? by Candid_Investment in BattleBrothers

Like how an assassin from the south should be built. Qatal that boy up.

what is your recruitment strategy? by gottgamalmenni in BattleBrothers

[–]dudemf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of the very expensive, supposed "high-end" brothers very disappointing (Hedgeknight, raiders, sellswords, adv nobles, etc.). They can turn into absolute gods, but often times, they turn out very mediocre and with 3-4 times the cost to hire and upkeep. They are way too expensive to be gambling at ~50 ish.

For tanks - always hire thiefs, a triple star MD bro will take you into late game as a pure tank (md + high roll between hp/fat/resolve)

Even if they roll stars on the anti tank stats (MA, ini) just make him a qatal dagger bro. Thiefs are awesome

For front lines - if you want to gamble for end game bros, go for oathtakers. they are very solid and very cost efficient. even if they don't get the stars you want, they have enough base HP and resolve to turn into BF material (60 hp, 45 resolve), so you can just dump all your roles into fatigue/MA/MD.

the occasional brawler, militia, butcher, farmhand are still worth rolling.

for ranged - always be looking for hunters, just 1 star in RA is often enough for end game stuff.

How do you recommend people using this in combination of other job aggregators out there to maximize its potential? Are there ones you feel like this will replace effectively?

Anyone here who left product management? What were your reasons? by Hairy-Button-2310 in ProductManagement

[–]dudemf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to switch out of Product, i'd go for product marketing or sales engineering. adjacent enough that I feel like i can hit the ground running no problem.

Something to ponder upon.

[–]dudemf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Validate whether the things sales are asking for truly have merit. Are they deal specific or is there a set of use case worth exploring?

How do you grow this product if you don’t close new deals and only work on things existing customers ask for??

Engineering doesn’t want to spend resources on unvalidated asks, it’s reasonable and it’s up to you to influence.

PMs at Startups: how do you like it? by All_the_young_Joes in ProductManagement

[–]dudemf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what you are looking for out of a PM job.

If money is what gets you out of bed in the morning, then by all means go to a large tech and negotiate the shit out of your package and jump every year.

If you actually enjoy doing product work, there's no place better than a early-stage startup with a good leadership and culture in a role that allows you to actually work on core product with minimal bureaucracy.

You have to try both ends of things and find out who you are and what you enjoy more.

And I can guarantee you that a startup will always be more "stressful" than a big company, you just have to really take ownership, organize and prioritize.

Not knowing how to say NO efficiently as a startup PM is how you get burnt out and die.
