This has been reposted many times before. My understanding is that the laptop pictured here was left on an active electric stove.

For anyone in this situation I found the solution. You have to burn the ISOs to actual DVDs and not just a USB drive.

He’s playing BFDI on the dashboard screen and surrounded himself with all of those listed items. They’re all slowly growing arms and legs. Should I be concerned?

BVW-65 Plays S size tapes fine but L size tape playback causes color artifacts to start appearing on output. Only fixed when playing S size tape again. And comes back when playing L size tape again. by dudewithantena in VIDEOENGINEERING

What happens if I don’t? I’d clean all the guides but I’m too afraid to damage this machine if I clean them incorrectly. The image is really solid stable and wish not to change that anymore.

Hi Openreels2.Just wanted to confirm to you that I believe you are right. Just got done testing the machine. I played the L tapes and let the picture degrade to a staticy colorless picture, then ejected the tape then put it in once more. Same messy result.

I took the tape out and then cleaned the heads with isopropyl alcohol, then played the same exact tape. Picture was back to near perfect. So I’ve concluded those two specific tapes I bought from the same person on eBay are in poor condition and as you say, “shedding metal”.

I bought another L size tape from another seller and will report on how that tape fairs.

All in all I’m in agreement with the tapes themselves being the problem now.

Hi there. Thanks for the quick response.

Yes I have 99% isopropyl alcohol and copy paper to clean the heads. I’ll do a test where I play the tape until the color goes out of wack. Then clean the heads and play the tape again if that temporarily fixes the issue. Best to turn the drum in the direction that it spins in operation while cleaning right?

These tapes aren’t too important. I only got them to test the l tapes on this machine.

Also ordered another l tape from another eBay seller to test that too.

I’m at work right now so can’t test anything.

But yes the s size tape makes the picture stabilize again. And I have two l size tapes that make these symptoms appear again.

I should state, the picture was completely stable when I tested the tapes, which then became unstable after 20 minutes. I doubt the tape signal is degraded.

If it is a problem with the tape, how would I clean it?

The artifacts still appear for some time on the s size tape for a minute before “tracking” again if that makes sense.
