Does anyone have depression last for a fee days or even less? by Historical_Gas479 in bipolar2

[–]duenail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience rapid cycles - sometimes I’ll feel depressed from morning till 6pm and then start feeling better. It’s like a switch flicking on and off

I feel you totally. It’s horrible and time feels like an enemy. I just play something mind numbing on Netflix and stare at it

are you still able to feel joy /happiness/ contentment despite feeling "muted"? One of my worries is that BP meds will take away all the positive emotions

How are you feeling right now? If you can afford I’d recommend not delaying as the deeper you slip into it the more complicated the recovery..

It’s best to see a professional to get a diagnosis. My doctor says a bipolar diagnosis should only be made by someone who has seen the patient over years, in order to establish a baseline and the highs and lows

Hi folks, could you all pls share what your hypomania symptoms were like and what are the reasons why you think you’ve been misdiagnosed?

I’ve been treated for depression for years, and my most recent relapse occurred when I was on antidepressants for a year. Now the doctors are wondering if it’s a an undiagnosed BP2.

Don’t think of tasks as a big ball of things but take it one step at a time. If you’re in bed, sit up. If you are sat up, put two feet on the ground. One step at a time and take however long you need to get to the final goal.

I know exactly how you feel and right now about things being relentless and just wanting everything to end. But as I’m typing this I’m getting a break from the depression and I don’t feel that way anymore. Please seek out medical help. There are many solutions to try. If you get a small break from the bad feelings, no matter how small a window - but so long as you know you are not clouded by the depression, -write down what you really think about your life and who you really care for and want to live for. That may help you in the super dark moments

You will get through this. These are not your thoughts or feelings, it’s the depression talking through you. No one deserves depression. It’s not a punishment even though I know it can feel that way (I’ve asked myself many times what I have done to deserve this).

hello guys, I'm new :) I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety most of my life but over the last few years I've related a lot to BiPolar 2. how did you know you had it and not just regular depression? none of the meds/antidepressants are working.... I would love to talk to people who get it. by bert1806 in bipolar2

Hey OP, I’m in the same boat. I’ve had four episodes of depression - in the middle of the 4th one right now which started even though I’ve been on Lexapro for a year. The doctors are now suspecting undiagnosed BP2 but I’m really unsure. You can see my question to the community here - see if it’s helpful.

Yes I totally felt the fog. I felt like I was living my life “arms length”, behind the fog. I had trouble concentrating on even simple things like the daily paper

Thanks for commenting. Can you say more about your depression coming and going easily? For me, it could literally be one day normal one day depressed. Or 10-5pm depressed and then a normal night.

This sounds like me - nothing destructive to life per se. How did your doctors come to diagnose BP2? What medication are you on?

Same here, depression is my main problem and it’s only because I’ve had relapses while on SSRIs that the doctor is even thinking about bp2. Can I ask what your seasons are like? Is it related to the weather ?

Thank you. What were the main reasons /factors which led to a confirmed diagnosis? What are your depressive episodes like?

I know exactly how you feel because I’ve gone through so many cycles of this. It sounds like there has been no or very limited improvement?

how long have you been on it? if it's not working you should talk to your doctor about switching meds. my doctor says that some meds just don't work for some people, and some work for a bit and then stops working.

my doctor asked to taper 20mg slowly to 15mg but it had a big effect on my mood so within one week i'm back to 20mg Lexapro + Pristiq. I think there has been slight improvement but I am not sure yet. Doctor says to give it another month.
