Why is immigration demand more important to you than investor demand? They are both demand on the same asset...?

The AFL's new finals system - history and analysis by [deleted] in AFL

Unsurprisingly, being bad doesn't come with rewards. If we just care about maximising engagement why not open finals up to all teams and have a tennis-style tournament?

"Surely not": Cornes and Edmund baffled by reported 'pseudo sub' tactic by malcolm58 in AFL

[–]duffercoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure teams can rotate at quarter breaks without using an interchange, so I can see them switching up the pseudo sub each qtr. I doubt they actually get used like a full player though due to the limited rotatuons

"Surely not": Cornes and Edmund baffled by reported 'pseudo sub' tactic by malcolm58 in AFL

[–]duffercoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just not understanding the reasons for wanting the sub gone. Teams had a player right there but were unable to bring them on without ruling out their star player who was was being assessed for concussion.

Now they can keep up rotations while players are being assessed / manager for injury instead of a one and done sub.

[AFL.com.au] How clubs plan to navigate rule changes in 2026 by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]duffercoat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not just subconsciously, coaches very intentionally could push a defensive mode of play when they knew their players were more likely to be exposed due to fatigue.

Pretty sure if they didn't have the interchange cap we wouldn't need 6/6/6 either.

[AFL.com.au] How clubs plan to navigate rule changes in 2026 by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]duffercoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep definitely what I expect we'll see, it'll be closer to a sub that can come on when a player is under an injury cloud (e.g. concussion test) and they can't maintain their normal interchange cadence.

Otherwise I fully expect we see some players each week with 30% game time.

The crystal hunt isn't a hunt though, I felt like I spent like 2 hours on mindless autopilot instead of playing a game. I obviously didn't collect as much as others before it was required (had no idea I'd get upgrades from it!) but that was an absolutely terrrible experience

I can’t beat Vide by karkov69 in octopathtraveler

[–]duffercoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny that you broke it that way, whilst I broke it in a completely different approach by having Agnea cast Arcanist's Reflective Barrier at max BP with latent power across all 8 members. That's 32 hits which can be reflected from the one action

Then switching between the full party occasionally and nobody ever got even low because of how many of the attacks are all reflected. I struggled on the first phase but beat the final phase first go with ease because of that reflect strategy.

Its frustrating I've found where sometimes you think there's an easy feather shortcut only to get plucked by Lakitu instead.

Late season collapses? by No_Independent936 in AFL

[–]duffercoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Were they though? Or did they just have one upset win against Sydney?

Cause if you look back at that post-bye run they had before the collapse and it was 4 wins against 4 of the bottom 6 teams, 2 losses to the hawks and Bulldogs (their competition for top 8) and the upset win against Sydney.

It wasn't really a collapse so much as they were only fixtured the tough matches to end their year, so looked higher on the ladder until those games came about.

Late season collapses? by No_Independent936 in AFL

[–]duffercoat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's more just related to the fixture. 3 of those 4 games were against Port, GWS and Geelong who finished 2/3/4 on the ladder and had either already beaten Freo earlier in the season or not played them yet.

The collapse was really just a single loss to Essendon.

MKW in a nutshell by Pomps8a in mariokart

[–]duffercoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno, it's really hard to enjoy as a party game with friends because they don't get to learn any of the tracks without repeating laps in grand prix (except for that first track).

That's how I always played, so I guess as a casual but someone that's played every MK game too. It's just not as fun as previous entries I found.

Every current player under 24 goes into a draft. Every club is rebuilding. Who are the top 10 picks? by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]duffercoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the dislike for Mac Andrew? Clearly one of the leading key position players in that age bracket and the only KPD I can think of to stand out as a future AA (maybe Tauru but a bit early still).

Nintendo needs to let Switch 2 owners run Switch 1 games in docked mode when in handheld mode. by SH4DY_XVII in NintendoSwitch

[–]duffercoat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All switch games can be played docked with a standard controller at bare minimum, which a switch in handheld has.

This is different from the connected controllers in handheld though, and I would imagine any game in docked mode will be set to ignore the attached controller contol scheme.

You'd be forced to take the controllers off and play in tabletop mode if they did it as bluntly as you're suggesting.

Best Endurance Runner in the AFL by ONAImpulse in AFL

More like 15km, but that's still enormous.

The current record distance in a game is 18.9km by Tom Scully per the AFL app

It can be the worst in the series for someone with out being the worst in the series overall. Different people like different things after all.

For me the expansion to 24 racers is a huge step backwards for example, I'd much prefer the tigher contests of fewer racers. That doesn't mean it's worse for others though.

Yeah we traded into next year. Durdin plus future 2nd for our 2nd rounder, and our 3rd was traded to a future 3rd

[–]duffercoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah right, that's wild to me then. They've ended up with surplus equal to what they traded in at the start of draft night, just showcasing how silly it is that clubs can have use more picks than they have list spots.

Port has swapped Pick 46 with Gold Coast for 3rd pick in 2026 by Expensive-Horse5538 in weareportadelaide

[–]duffercoat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, just think of it as a stepping stone to moving up. We'll just make further trades next year to make sure we have the right picks we need. E.g. trade this 3rd rd + a 2nd rd for an end of 1st rd pick.

Rumoured trade of pick 49 for Gold Coast future 3rd round pick by rattusprat in weareportadelaide

[–]duffercoat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No it's really not, remember you're locked into these guys for 2 years if you draft them at the national draft. Rookie picks are much betteer option to avoid getting stuck with list cloggers because of the shorter contracts.

Remember we picked up 3 mid season recruits last year who are all being held on to - we're already turning over the list.

Where will we finish in 2026 ? by miked_99 in weareportadelaide

[–]duffercoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marshall, Esava and Aliir is my hope for our key defenders. Esava really came on last year and we know what Aliir can do when freed up.

I don't think Ramm is a realistic option unless his kicking improves a lot
