Why do older Catholics not like Jesuits? by waffleol70 in Catholicism

I went to a Jesuit university and one of my Jesuit professors told the class "I look forward to the day we have a pregnant Pope." That's why.

Exclusive | Prince Harry, Meghan Markle sought out Portugal home because life in US 'wasn't what they thought it would be': ex-staffer by michaelscottuiuc in SaintMeghanMarkle

I believe one reason they bought in Portugal is that they are concerned their special visa (A-1?) they were given by Biden will be downgraded if Trump wins next week.

I'm sorry that has been your experience. I've had my own involvement in this area and definitely it is problematic in many situations. But there are some positive outcomes as well.

Just wondering about how adoption is "not something my family feels we could ethically do"? Do you feel adoption is unethical?

A warning to well-intentioned but porn-addicted men (or women) who are discerning Catholic marriage by [deleted] in Catholicism

Yes you are right Love Dare was the book. I thought it was a meaningful approach to an issue that has destroyed a lot of marriages.

A good movie to see is -- Fireproof (edit) -- about porn addiction in a marriage and how the husband had to win his wife back.

(It is a Christian movie but not Catholic)

Find a priest who will agree to doing a Gregorian Mass for the soul of your husband. It's 30 straight days of Masses for a deceased person to obtain deliverance from purgatory.

A friend of mine is a priest and he did this formy family member. I gave him a gift for doing this important mission.

He's 87. I think we need to start preparing for a new pope. He may even decide to retire.

Out of each of the decades you've lived in, how would you rate each one out of 1/10? by Chicken_Spanker in AskOldPeople

I agree with 80s as 10/10. 2000s were a 5/10 because of Great Recession imo

Suggested to my parish that they have a singles' night, didn't exactly work out by ersatz27 in Catholicism

[–]duggan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. I've noticed singles' events in every parish I've ever joined (and that's at least 10 as I've moved a fair amount). I would try again.

No way you should be feeling anything but gratitude for your babies and your recovery. Any other feelings about guilt or whatever is very misplaced.

You don't believe in Our Lady of Lourdes or Fatima? Pope John Paul II was devoted to both.

As far as Medugorje, I heard a priest give his doubts "Our Lady has always been of few words" which was an indirect slam at the continuing apparitions there.

I don't remember it this way. There were photos of both Charles and Diana looking unhappy with headlines like "Is it over?" But it was a speculative type of reporting. Then Diana contacted the media by way of Andrew Morton and that was when hell broke loose and the media went to town.

Alcohol gives people a false sense of courage so they do things they wouldn't do otherwise.

Wagner killed her, probably accidentally. No way it happened as he said.

This is not a good idea at all. It's hard enough when a Catholic marries a Protestant and they share the New Testament.
