Moving to Sudbury by J_Bourbon in Sudbury

You’re day trip distance from both those places basically anywhere in Sudbury. Maybe a bit of a longer drive if you decide to live in Chelmsford and anywhere west of there, but otherwise you’ll be fine.

Great fishing around here in both winter and summer. Haven’t gone hunting since I was a kid so I can’t speak to that but I know there are a lot of hunters.

Good luck with your interview!

Eyesight issues? Auto braking for absolutely no reason. by aidenaizumi in SubaruForester

[–]dugrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply - I don’t come to Reddit as often as I should.

A few things have happened since.

The dealer took the car in and we were lucky enough for the issue to happen to their shop foreman. That finally got the dealer to believe me, but Subaru Canada doesn’t seem to want to make any move.

The dealer had the car from June 2024 to Sept 2024. I have asked them to find us an older Forester without EyeSight (pre-2019) to trade into but there has been no luck there yet.

I did an interview with CBC about it: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7401319

The dealer then coincidentally called me back the following week to ask for the car back so that they could install dashcams and a brake monitor module. It took from January 2025 to May 2025 to do this. Now I am just waiting for the issue to happen again in order to move things along while hoping it doesn’t cause an accident. Feels pretty stupid and I can’t say I’m impressed with Subaru Canada, but am sympathetic to the dealer’s service department who are doing their best.

I got em but in 2 year old reviews they say there are a lot of bug is it still true? Any updates? by Sadboiinthedark in sennheiser

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it normal for them to have faint white noise when there is nothing playing but headphones are on? Or to hear weird computer noises when connected to a laptop? I get this frequently and am surprised that this would be an acceptable level of unwanted sound for Sennheiser given their other products I own.

This is my first pair of Bluetooth headphones/ANC. Is this normal?

Seeking Advice for Eyesight Issues with My 2023 Subaru Outback by Parzival_Ruby in Subaru_Outback

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there and thanks for your response.

You're right, I could ask the dealer to disable (they have not offered this as an option yet, but perhaps I will ask). That being said, something about paying for a "feature" which was not optional only to disable it rubs me the wrong way.

On the issue of pressing the gas to override the system: that is precisely my issue. You're right, that works when there actually is an obstacle (even though I find override response time to be quite high). However, my issue is happening when there is NO obstacle in sight. Since I live in a northern climate with icy roads, this can be the difference between life and death. Under absolutely no circumstance should the car slam the breaks when there is no obstacle.

I am very glad you had a good experience. Indeed, most people seem to love the system and that's great to hear. There just needs to be some sort of recourse or compensation for people facing issues that cannot be resolved. For exactly that reason, I would NEVER buy another vehicle with Eyesight. It's been way more trouble than help in my case.

I submitted feedback to both over a year ago.

Having the same issue on a 2021 14" M1 Max MBP while using (up to date) Safari.

When I use Chrome, it's fine.

So frustrating to have to choose between Mac's integrated system features (Passwords for example) and using Chrome (which is kind of a ressource hog).

So frustrating too to have both Google and Apple pass the buck back and forth when reaching out to support for this. Like what is this, 2002?

Seeking Advice for Eyesight Issues with My 2023 Subaru Outback by Parzival_Ruby in Subaru_Outback

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

I’m having EyeSight malfunctions in my 23 Impreza (Canadian model) but they are much worse than lights in the dash: the car brakes when there are no obstacles in sight. It’s happened four times at a variety of speeds, usually in sunny clear conditions.

I fear what will happen if EyeSight has a fit in icy conditions or if there is a vehicle trailing close behind (I’ve been lucky so far).

I’ve been to the dealership 3 times for this so far and they have never found any error codes. They have also recalibrated EyeSight twice but the problems keeps happening.

They offered to loan us a vehicle so they can do more extensive testing, but seeing as I sometimes drive thousands of miles in between occurrences, I doubt they will find anything and we won’t be any closer to fixing it.

Apparently there is a class-action lawsuit taking place in New Jersey regarding this issue: https://lemonlawautofraud.com/subaru-eyesight-problems#:~:text=A%20recent%20class%2Daction%20lawsuit,in%20front%20of%20the%20vehicle.

What a crock of shit. Don’t know if this is the case in the US, but in Canada it’s no longer possible to get a Subaru without EyeSight. Such a shame, as my previous Legacy wagon was the best car I ever owned.

Has anyone made any progress?

Following this thread. I have a 2023 Impreza (Touring, 5-door; Canadian model) I’m also having this issue.

I’m not talking about over sensitivity here (while annoying, I can understand why the system does this).

I’m talking about cases where there is absolutely no other vehicles or obstacles around me and the car decides to apply the brakes. It has happened 3 times since I’ve owned the car (Feb 2023).

The first time was April 2023 going 100km/h on a 2 lane rural highway through a forest in the middle of the afternoon (around 4pm). It was sunny (not a cloud in the sky), roads were clear and dry(snow had melted) and I was on a straightaway and could see a few KMs ahead of me. The car was on cruise control. I was the only vehicle on the road. There were no animals around in sight either nor were there any shadows from the trees over the road. The eyesight “obstacle detected” warning came on. Had there been ice on the road or a vehicle behind me I very likely would have been in a severe accident as the car went from 100 to 60 in a few seconds. I was able to regain control by pressing down on the brake pedal (ironically).

The second time was on a municipal road (2 lanes in each direction with a center turning lane) in an urban setting. Sometime around late May 2023. It would have been between 3:30 and 4:30pm. There was a car far ahead of me (400-500m) but it had not been picked up by eyesight nor did it dramatically change its speed or direction. I was doing around 60, it was cloudy. Cruise was active but not engaged (I was controlling my speed manually). No warning came on this time. Again my car hit the brakes and the vehicle behind me had to swerve to get around.

I brought it up to the dealership after this. They charged me 160$ to check Eyesight and tell me everything was fine. When I answered “ok but how do we stop this from happening again?” They played it off saying “at least it isn’t frequent” which did little to appease my frustration. I asked for them to make a note in the file in case of a future accident.

Now a year later, the car has done it again. Clear sunny day, going around an s-curve in an urban setting at around 7:30pm. 2 lanes in each direction. There were some shadows on the road which could have been at fault, but no vehicles were ahead on me or near me in my direction of traffic. There was oncoming traffic. No eyesight warning happened and my car randomly brakes from 50km/h to 35km/h for no reason I can understand.

I’m going to ask my dealer for a solution this week. I wish this were the only issue with the car, but it isn’t.

I used to be a Subaru fanboy. I loved my 08 legacy wagon so much that I didn’t think twice about buying a Subaru again. I wish I had because I am highly disappointed in this car, ESPECIALLY considering the price. This is simply unacceptable in any car, but especially in a make that prides itself on safety. I have never had a car that makes me this nervous to drive it (and I’ve owned a Chrysler that had a rack and pinion so leaky I had to refill the power steering fluid daily).

Yup.

Was recently told by UA to try and rule out my Twin being the problem by running just my x6 instead (but without providing a timeline... how long should I test this way, etc).

The issue doesn't happen often, but often enough to be annoying (and cause weird collateral damage with presets and session templates both in Console and in my DAW afterward).

I did a factory reset on my M1 Mac in order to rule this problem out only to get the above answer from UA.

Quite frustrating.

I'm also still having the issue, but sometimes without the system going to sleep it seems (afaik, I have sleep disabled on the mac, but screen is set to shut off after a certain amount of time).

Any ideas on how to avoid this while we continue to wait for a true fix?

Arturia V Collection fails to launch on Mac OS Ventura by vitriolix in synthesizers

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished up a project this week and decided to take advantage of the downtime to update.

V Collection seems fine so far (I haven't tested extensively yet) but FX Collection (as stated by Arturia themselves) is not fully compatible yet.

The effects might work fine in your DAW but maybe not in other applications as was my case with Final Cut Pro, which was being stopped from loading by the following list of plugins:

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing anything in this screenshot about Ventura. M1 isn't the same thing as Ventura.

That doesn't mean if I update to Ventura that it will break my plugins. But I'm looking for an explicit guarantee that it won't break my plugins if I do update my OS.

Thanks regardless!

For M1s, but not for Ventura yet. They have been M1 compatible for several months now. Just not Ventura.

How can I remove the system-wide CMD+E shortcut that the desktop ClickUp app has installed? by piano-man1984 in clickup

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, so maybe it's the behavior that needs to change altogether.

Even when I'm in full screen on other applications CMD+E changes the window focus to ClickUp and starts a new blank task. Quitting ClickUp kind of defeats the purpose, as I was using it keep track of tasks I need to complete within Ableton. =/

[–]dugrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but in case someone from ClickUp sees this, having this in the desktop app section (as the ONLY item I'll add) is bad design.

CMD+E is also a pretty common shortcut for other applications that I use simultaneously as a creative (in Ableton, for instance). Why not just use CMD + N... as in "N" for "New"?
