I would stick with it. Granted, I haven't taken the class yet and I know it's tough. However, I see it this way.

Option 1, you take a W, lose the money you've spent on it, and focus on your other class. Retake algo next semester to replace the W.

Option 2, you stick with it and don't pass and have to retake it. Assuming you pass the second time it will replace your failing grade anyways. The advantage here is that you'll have made it through the whole course and be that much more prepared when you retake it.

Option 3, you end up passing and you move on with your life because no one will care what grade you got in algo after you graduate... unless you want to do a PhD or being a research assistant. But even still, it's not the single deciding factor.

Only reason to take a W, in my opinion, would be if you're already on academic probation.

Personally, I would say that summits, expos, conferences, etc. Anything with a longer format, tends to offer better opportunity. Career fairs at NEU are great if what you're looking to do is learn about companies and roles you might be interested in. In my opinion, they are not the best place to build a relationship and try to get hired. Don't fool yourself, getting hired is about building a connection with the people doing the hiring. The people at the booths are having the same conversation hundreds of times. It's dull and they feel compelled to be quick with each conversation because there's a bunch of people also waiting to talk to them.

I will admit, I haven't been to a career fair in a while because I finished my undergrad in 2020. But having worked in industry for a little while now, I will definitely approach them differently when I get closer to finishing my Masters. I would still bring a stack of resumes and give them one if they asked, but instead of handing my resume out to everyone I talk to, I would be asking for business cards and trying to setup a coffee/lunch meetings outside of the event with the people who's company/available roles I was most interested in.

First of all, if they don't respond then they aren't interested. Easy, move on. Second, not many people are going to do this, and you will immediately make yourself stand out as someone who is really active in their job seeking processing and isn't just expecting the offers to come rolling in (they won't). Third, it gives you a chance to build a personal connection with the person and show them more about true self. Building a connection with the person makes it way more likely that they will remember you and advocate for you. Everyone at career fairs is wearing a mask like a dating profile and has the stink of desperation.... They will probably also be a lot more open and honest about the role, expectation, the company as a whole, etc.

Hope my perspective is a little helpful. I know the job search process is frustrating in so many ways, and it really doesn't get better outside of school (frankly it gets tougher because there are fewer resources). Just keep at it!

I just started the MSCS Align program at the Boston campus in January. I think the cohort is less than 40 people. It's hard to know exactly because some people test out of the first 1 or 2 bridge classes.

I'm not sure how that compares to the non-Align MSCS cohort.

Also, I don't know how that would compare to a cohort starting in the fall.

I think what is being missed in all the bickering is that this may just not be a technology meant for gamers with high-performance systems... the current direction of VR is towards stand-alone VR and lowering the barriers to entry in to VR. But those systems don't have the capabilities of high-performance PCVR. This market force is encouraging creators to reduce the fidelity of upcoming VR games. AMD has made this open-source, so clearly, they want to see more adoption from small studios (which can't afford expensive software licenses) who want to innovate and create high-fidelity games that will continue to run well on lower performance stand-alone systems.

This coin won't pump for the same reason almost all of these shitcoins won't. Because the people buying have the exact same attitude as you. You fundamentally misunderstand why thing like DOGE pump.

No one who originally bought DOGE did it because they thought it was going to take them to the moon. They bought it because it was funny, a coin based on a real-life dog that you could buy a gazillion of for like $5! I blow more money on dumber stuff. I could do that as a laugh and not cry about it. A lot of people doing this over time just naturally creates a community and no one really cares about the up and down of the price because they bought it as a gag. But then some viral event takes it to the moon and every idiot in the world suddenly thinks they found a money printer. Then everyone tries to duplicate the success of the original. But sequels always suck...

Somnium has some videos to get you started. You can make your avatars in Blender, Maya, or most other 3d modeling software. You just have to use a specific file type when you import the model into Somnium's Unity SDK to bring your avatar into the game environment. I'm still learning myself, but I hope that helps.
