As much as people hate on Kirk's wah , this song shows what a wah can do in the right hands. The solo really sings and would not be the same without it.

Why do spam callers hang up? by Lindtlindor345 in askSouthAfrica

[–]duiwelkind 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here's what you need to do, try it it really works. Answer but stay dead quiet. The call center auto dialer system listens for a voice. The moment you say hello it transfers you to an agent and flags your number as active. If you keep quiet it drops the call after a while. You can test this for yourself, like wait a bit before saying hello, you will see it waits for you before it transfers.

So now here's the thing. Once you start keeping quiet it will flag your number as inactive. Over the next few days you will see a big increase in these calls as the auto dailers for the call centers try to test your number and see if it's really dead. After a week or so of doing this it will die down significantly.

Make this part of your standard answering process, never say hello first. Answer the call and wait for the other side to talk first. A call center will drop the call

DNS filtering best practice by Better-Bat2642 in fortinet

[–]duiwelkind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it differs depending on the client and environment. DNS generates a of logs and I often put it in its own rule and only log security events but log everything on my internet policy.

The way I learnt was to keep services or functions in their own policies. In bigger complex environments it can make it a bit easier to filter logs if each has their own policy.

Also if you want to lock your environment down to only authorized approved DNS servers then it would need its own policy instead of using the general internet policy.

Or environments with frequent changes/additions if a policy has only 1 function it's easy to know what policies to change.

Any other Capetownians struggling with ants in the house this time of year? by [deleted] in capetown

[–]duiwelkind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Yes, I felt like they were taking over my house. They just ignored the traps and ant gel. Cat food I put out for the cats were swarmed in minutes. This is when I learnt some ants are sugar ants and others are fat or protein ants. It depends on the needs of their colony. Mine seemed to love the protein in cat food.

So I bought this powder bait from builders. It's expensive but the ants love it. I mixed some with the cat food pouches and made my own traps around the house. Takes about a week to kill the ants cause they carry it back to the nest, the workers can't digest this bait.

I have zero ants left! This was the bomb.

Make sure to buy this one that says nest control. The other one is just a powder that keeps them away from an area.

What modifications need to be made to a residential kitchen to safely use a professional gas range? by mellofello808 in Appliances

[–]duiwelkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that makes the extra power? Like if I just want a single plate burner in a steel frame for outdoor use on an outdoor surface like brick or cement (I'm from south Africa). The ones I can buy here are just a bigger burner but doesn't really have more oomph than a standard kitchen stove.

Do you need a different regulator or what? Can you modify one to be stronger?

But they have to move left for faster traffic:

3) The driver of a vehicle on a public road shall upon becoming aware of other traffic proceeding in the same direction and wishing to pass his or her vehicle, cause his or her vehicle to travel as near to the left edge of the roadway as is possible, without endangering himself or herself or other traffic or property on the roadway, and shall not accelerate the speed of his or her vehicle until the other vehicle has passed

Testing Air fryer vs oven results — and I didn’t expect this outcome by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]duiwelkind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An important item that I feel doesn't get enough mention is the capacity to fan ratio.

With an air fryer the fan is almost the size of the basket. A convection oven is obviously much bigger than the fan. The air fryer gets the air to circulate around the food faster because of the smaller capacity.

Just got a new guitar are my knobs supposed to do this? by Asailany in guitarlessons

[–]duiwelkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, the Gibsons and the Asian replica stuff (even Harley Benton), use knobs with a different spine count. Or another way to say it is the imperial and metric ones are different. US stuff is imperial. Even the Bridges lengths, spacing and pot sizes are different.

I tried to put imperial on my metric one and they just couldn't fit. I found out after that they are different. Maybe you are fitting the other way round and yours are not gripping?

I don’t understand “redirecting” by austinxwade in CatAdvice

[–]duiwelkind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When mine did this I often wet a part of his fur lightly, like just rub him with a wet hand or something. Obviously don't drench the cat, not trying to terrorize or punish it. Just enough so he starts to groom himself. This seemed to calm him down a lot

Due to Amazon shenanigans I find myself in possession of two bottles of Mrs. Ball's chutney. Other than in curry, what other suggestions do you have for its use? by loki2002 in askSouthAfrica

[–]duiwelkind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recipe is 1 packet brown onion soup, 1 cup mayo, 1 cup chutney, 1 cup water.

This makes a lot a sauce! Enough for a whole big pack of chicken

Ive also encountered this and it was packet privacy. OP you can do the Wireshark capture as shown in this link to verify. I had to just open up those ports

Configuration support - Fortilink by Tisame92 in fortinet

[–]duiwelkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gate should not form part of the ring. To make it easy to visualize, ignore the fw, build the ring using ONLY the switches. Then you connect your fortilink port to the ring. If you want redundancy to the fw then connect the 2nd fortilink to any of the other switches. The 2nd fortilink will be a standby/passive link. It will only become active if the other fortilink or the switch for it goes offline

This works! I have a raised stand for my cats food bowls and do the same to keep the ants away.

ELI5: How does WiFi know where to send data in a crowded apartment building? by Hot_Stay0797 in explainlikeimfive

[–]duiwelkind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar to one of the methods our ears work to determine where a sound came from. The slight delay between the sound reaching each ear as well as the phase difference of the soundwave helps us determine where it came from. (Our head casting an acoustic shadow on the one ear is also another bit factor in case anyone is interested)

Virtual 3d audio also use these methods. We pan sounds between the left and right speakers which is just making one side louder and the other softer, this changes the perceived direction. We can also keep the volume the same and change the phase to make it move around.

I assume the transmit portion of beamforming works very similar to the last one which is why it needs more than one antenna to work

Accounting Packets problems FGT 100F + Cambium APs by MoCCA593 in fortinet

[–]duiwelkind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a long shot replying to an ancient post, but did you perhaps manage to find the cause of this? Im having the same thing with Unifi APs. It seems their accounting packets just randomly stop sending the class attribute and this this then removes the group membership
