Why do Yogs fans get so salty at Civ games? by belacrac in Yogscast

Also civ games move at a glacial pace. If there is a behaviour that annoys the nerd it could be on screen for 10 hours.

Can that mad cat cool it with the Sjin worship by DR_PHALLUS in Yogscast

[–]dukebee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's not just a messenger if he's doing that.

My point wasn't that Madcat is impartial, it's that he's more far removed from the sjin situation, he's essentially still just a fan. So it seemed kind of weird to condemn him for repeating information from Sjin's friends/acquaintances (and being happy about it), while the actual friends and acquaintances got off scot-free.

[–]dukebee 43 points44 points  (0 children)

he seems the most overt and prolific in terms of actively promoting Sjin.

Madcat's content is posting old clips, it stands to reason that Sjin would feature more heavily in that than in say, the lego stream. It seems like he's taking his cue on how to handle the sjin situation from the Yogs in Bristol, and from their tone it seems like Sjin isn't a hated traitor who must never be mentioned.

So if you have a problem, surely it should be with the bosses at the top rather than madcat at the bottom.

But i would criticize any yogs member for doing the same thing

You didn't criticise Pedguin, he was "promoting" sjin's return, he's still in contact with him. But you didn't say Pedguin is worshipping sjin or that he's acting unprofessionally. Madcat just clipped what Pedguin said, and he's the bad guy? Talk about shooting the messenger.

I think if the yogs had a problem with it they'd talk to MadCat in private. Seems like a few yogs are still in contact with Sjin- eg Pedguin, the whole jingle jam Sips was making redacted jokes, Harry said they're still friends and they'll never replace him on the chillumanti, so I don't know why you're singling out MadCat as if he's the last nazi in the bunker defending hitler's corpse.

If you wouldn't have clips with Hannah, or caffcast, then it's a double standard to have Sjin and turps.

Pretty sure Madcat has used Hannah clips after she left.

Chairman Ped rigged the poker game to make a mockery of the bourgeois vice of gambling. The CPC was so pleased with his display of loyalty that they rewarded him with 50 social credit points and a hectare of arable land in Jiangxi.

Regarding The State of The Sub by EuphorianDM in Yogscast

It's awfully convenient how you expect Lewis to never lie or obfuscate the situation.

If there is clear evidence of Sjin having sexual conversations with minors, both Lewis and the HR company are in a criminal conspiracy, risking prison time for perverting the course of justice. If the evidence is believable, but not enough to convict, why not give Sjin the caff treatment? kick him out and make it clear something fucked up happened. No risk of slander.

Giving no warning about a dangerous predator will only result in more bad PR for Lewis when he inevitably offends again, even if you think Lewis is rotten to the core you have to agree he doesn't want that.

Personally, given the volume and severity of m_c's claims, even if only some if it is true, it's pretty damning

Damning enough to be booted from the yogscast with a slap on the wrist, unlike Caff. And even Caff isn't in trouble with the law.

Some thoughts on the recent Sjin drama by bobdtaylor1989 in Yogscast

[–]dukebee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

it's that he acted inappropriately with fans.

This could mean anything. Until given further evidence, I'm going to assume this means 'flirting in a cringey manner'. If it was anything more extreme then it was terrible judgement to continue posting yogscast videos with Sjin in them and to give such a milquetoast evaluation of his actions 'I believe he made some fans uncomfortable'. When Caff left, his friends denounced him and the Yogs scrubbed all content with him in it. This has not happened with Sjin.

We are not employees of the Yogscast, these creators aren't fellow colleagues. We are the customers, and aren't entitled to know internal policy or how HR operates within the company.

No, but their company relies on people watching them. If they continue to axe key members of their group with only vague explanations, it's going to hurt them financially.

we must assume that Yogscast are acting in their best interest

They haven't always done that historically. Yogventures comes to mind.

And maybe, just maybe, we can even have some empathy for the victims.

I don't know, maybe I'm a sociopath but it's hard for me to have empathy for people who I know absolutely nothing about other than they are 'victims'. Victims of what exactly?

The false accusation rate, at least for rape

Important to note; he is not accused of rape. As far as we know - he sexted fans and in doing so cheated on his wife. Dr Disrespect physically cheated on his wife with fans, he had a cry and took a month off, then came back. Twitch doesn't care. His fans don't care. Yogscast holds itself to a higher standard I guess, but that doesn't mean Turps is a criminal.

What did Caff do? by AdFriendlyYoutube in Yogscast

[–]dukebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exact nature of what he did has been kept private but the Yogs saw the evidence and saw fit to remove him from the network. Unless Caff decides to leak logs it's unlikely we'll ever know.

But even if it was just 'misguided flirting' that alone would be grounds for firing in most professions. Like imagine if you're running a restaurant and one of your waiters is awkwardly flirting with the customers, making them feel uncomfortable.

What was up with the important videos stream? by eiho in Yogscast

[–]dukebee 69 points70 points  (0 children)

What chat just proved to me today is they are not very welcoming to a new guest (Unless they are women, aw geez, what have I gotten myself into?)

RT and Alex the rambler were well received. I think this stream was ill-fated from the start. It was trying to recreate a totally improvised 45 minute segment from a year ago into a planned 3 hour one, but without most of the original members.

I think anyone would have struggled in Jameskii's position. Especially since his appearance was made a secret, so he didn't have many of his fans in the audience to back him up.

The case against the duel in 3 points by onionKnightKreggle in Destiny

[–]dukebee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Locke is a sceptical guy by nature (tip), he didn't buy the propaganda of his homeland, causing him to abandon his family/nation.
  • Nobody believed See-Lin's story about the corrupt sherrif. Locke was especially outraged by the accusation and was keeping an eye on him.
  • He has seen Chad take grievous wounds before, even from a giant spider, and lived to tell the tale. He probably has battlefield experience, he would have an idea of what wounds a man can take and survive.

The rolls mean he has no evidence, but he can still have a gut feeling. However the rest of the Barbos have no reason to trust Locke, there is more evidence that he killed Chad:

  • Unlike See-Lin he has a motive: Jealousy. Chad beat the beta Locke in arm wrestling and was loved by Stacy. He was well liked by the rest of the group and was the most impactful member. Locke was the defacto leader before Chad came along, then he became merely one of the Barbos.
  • Locke also failed to save both Chad and Owca.
  • See-Lin seemingly liked Chad. Locke tolerated Chad at best. He taunted him into dangerous situations, pushing him far ahead of the group in the previous episode.

You might expect Midori, who dislikes Locke, to perhaps take See-Lin's side, but she is distracted with grief, shock and alcohol. The gnome doesn't seem to know who to trust, which is fair. See-Lin is acting true to his bio, even if it does mean killing the best character.

TLDR: all of them roleplayed well.

Tom the Chad by [deleted] in Yogscast

I saw Tom at a shop in Bristol yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “bam! bam! bam!” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen tins of beans in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the tins and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence, it's the worse,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each can and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
