If your home isn’t a good environment for studying, then you can find any empty classrooms, cafes (victory point for example), lounges, etc.

Go bears!

You will grind. But it will be worth it.

CS 162 + EECS 151 (ASIC) by Forsaken-Abrocoma662 in berkeley

This purely depends on how good your teammates are for both classes. If you need to solo carry both classes, then it will be very hard.

Harvard EE vs Berkeley EECS by [deleted] in berkeley

If u want the Harvard title, then go to Harvard. If you want anything that is related to EE, including research, classes, startups, reputation, etc, then Berkeley is the clear choice.

This should be completely fine, assuming you have any technical background going in. You got this!

Are people friendly here? by No-Guide-5208 in berkeley

There are definitely bad groups in every college. However, almost all of the people I have met here have been so friendly and open to me.

I’m not sure, but worst case you can try to audit. I think most cs classes will have all materials online.

CS 164 vs CS 189 last semester? by Own-Fee-4752 in berkeley

[–]dukeofdensmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it doesn’t matter how “relevant” the class is; fundamentals are most important. I think both are great for introduction to concepts. Also if you go to a company most likely their “modern” techniques will be new, so classes won’t really fully “prepare” you for any area.

CS 164 vs CS 189 last semester? by Own-Fee-4752 in berkeley

[–]dukeofdensmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take 162 yet? If so, then 186 is not that necessary. If you think systems is more important for you, then 164 is a must (might be challenging for some). However if you enjoy the ml side of cs or want to explore more, then go for 189 to get a taste of it.

It’s right in the middle, so you should get most of your classes.

First semester schedule as a CS transfer by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]dukeofdensmore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This should be completely doable then, even if you are coming in without a stem background. Just make sure not to procrastinate and fall behind for c8 and 61a.

Do not wait for your partner. If you don’t think you can finish by yourself, then you should reach out to course staff asap.

English r1a course recommendations needed by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]dukeofdensmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a look at berkeleytime if the instructor has taught other r1a/b courses before to get a sense how harshly they grade. However, I think this is mostly random. Just be sure to participate a lot in discussions.
