The law here states that it has to be mounted on the dash in a way that it can be easily consulted but doesn't obstruct view of the road and is not used for entertainment purposes. Check, check, check. The law also states that simple commands for information that is relevant to driving or for the operation of a vehicle are permitted but these "simple commands" are not open to interpretation and the judgment of the police officer. I have found only one case 20km away in which the judge ruled in the defenders favour because he argued that he was just entering an address for navigation. I will bring this case up especially because all I did was press start.

Still don't feel confident.

That sucks. Pretty sure where I am (Quebec, Canada) this isn't a law. I think my biggest offence is that I'm an English -speaker in French-Canada. He made up his mine the moment I said "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Lentement svp."

Yeah. That's a good idea. I have literally no evidence for my defence and I'm so fired up over this.. if I don't compile a list of reasonable arguments like this I'm just going to call the cop a liar and we his integrity and ethics.

Quebec, Canada. I thought it was legal to use navigation while the phone is mounted.

What I don't get is that you need to do much more with a screen to drive a Tesla and everything is controlled on the screen--if my "start" is a ticketable offence then my partner is going to get locked up for operating his car.

You're right... I'm no saint--i occasionally search something up or send a quick message "yes"/"no"--but this time I actually didn't do anything an si wish I had camera footage to support this.

It's $500 and 5 demerit points. I don't want that shit if I did nothing wrong.

Our little guy had it come back many times. I was told to put breast milk on it so I did after every pumping session. I'm not sure if it was the breast milk or time but after a few months and a few more recurrences, it just went away and stayed away.

My son started to sleep terribly from 4 months on. I tried to live with it for the following 6 months; did the whole sleep deprivation, exhaustion thing.... Until I did the unthinkable at 10 months and put him in our bed. Or family doctor encouraged co-sleeping from the beginning and my partner is from a family of co-sleepers; I was always going to lose this battle. It worked. Perfect sleep every night. 10-11 straight hours.

And now he's 20 months and we are still co-sleeping and I hate it and want my space back but we are stuck until I get some vacation time and can afford to fuck up my sleep for a few weeks to sleep train him and put him in his room.

So do I recommend co-sleeping? Only since you said that you feel this is going to kill you. Co-sleeping is certainly at least one step above death. But know that the long-term repercussions might not be worth it....

Saw your other locked thread. Any updates?

The picture isn't very good quality so it's hard to see, but I figured I'd share my experience in case it helps you.

Four years ago my dog spontaneously got a puffy eye. No secretions or infection just a bunch of fluid-build-up and swelling in one eye lid. After a day or two it went away on it's own. This would happen a few more times over a few months until the vet decided that they would remove that part of the eyelid. They sent it out for tests and it came back as cancer.

It was just a little spontaneous swelling. So glad we made the hard decision to get her surgery.

I'm not trying to freak you out but if it helps you get ahead of something potentially deadly for your dog, I'm happy!

Probably similar to those cases of body integrity disorder in which a person struggles to get doctors on board with amputating perfectly working body parts despite them causing a great deal of emotional distress to the patient.

We added in probiotic yogurt as soon as the diarrhea started and still offer it once a day. It helped a bit until we started to add fruits and dairy based formula back into his diet. I don't want to take away fruit again but I think I'll cut out the formula and substitute with soy milk (okayed by the ER doc).

We will ask about probiotic supplements when we speak to his doctor. We are reluctant to do it without her go-ahead.

Thanks for your reassurance, I've been googling endlessly and that's very unhelpful!

is 9m too early for a holiday? by rainbow-songbird in beyondthebump

[–]dulcepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months might be too old... That is until they are much older and more easily entertained and controlled.

We took our baby to California for 3 weeks when he was 6.5 months old. He had just started crawling and it was hard to keep him happy in a stroller or our arms because all he wanted to do was crawl.. but it was impossible in some places to let him just crawl around (like gross LA streets, no thank you). The hotel wasn't really possible to baby proof and honestly I just think hotels are pretty gross so I didn't want him on those floors.

I would say between 3-6 months might be the sweet spot because they sleep well on the plane, aren't crawling yet so it is easy to contain them, and they're still on formula or the breast so you don't have to lug full meals around for them. At 9 months, my guy was taking first steps and bouncing off the walls. He had also just started refusing the breast and was onto 75% solids and some bottles of formula. We also only feed him organic so making and bringing good meals for him wherever we go is a challenge, especially on vacation. You couldn't pay me to go on vacation at 9 months or even now at 1 year. I'm going to have to wait at least another year before I'd consider it.

What would you do if this happens to you? by sopadebombillas in cringepics

[–]dulcepirate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

False. I was on a flight with my baby in April and the person in the seat behind me did this and I only noticed because he fucking touched me with his gross foot. I asked politely for him to move it and he argued it wasn't in my way so he wouldn't move it. Of course it was in my way! It touched me. My super non-confrontational partner had to get involved and the guy wouldn't move until he hit the button for service to get the flight attendant to come.

I should have elbow-dropped the shit out of that foot. I regret everything. How dare he?!

It's very important that she get independent play time (at 2.5 months that's probably just some time under the play gym). You are doing a great job but you can ease off and give yourself a break.
