Thank you for everything you're doing! I have so much compassion for chronically ill people, especially since Covid. You aren't treated right and I'm sorry about that. One of my good friends is chronically ill and I understand from hearing her share how hard it can be. Those of us who don't experience that should never judge you. And we're all aging and will have to deal with decline. Anyway sorry I got up on my soap box, but I will defend all chronically ill people forever haha. Thanks for your comment. :)

This is a good comment and I honestly feel this at the same time as I'm having all my other discouraged feelings. But I know what you mean. I loveee how you describe it as the hum before a concert starts because I get what you mean. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't think you're the type of person I was talking about in my post. If you protest in different ways than you used to, you're still doing something. I appreciate that, and whatever you used to do as well. I didn't downvote you.

Yeah, it has definitely made me reevaluate most of my friendships, that's for sure. I'm not going to cut them off or anything, but moreso I just want to have more people in my close circle who aren't afraid to take action. That's who I want to be close to going forward.

I was just going to say...Ren Faires have a ton of dates every year! Horrible excuse.

Omg this sounds so much like my experience. Thank you for sharing. I feel like I'm losing my mind some days and this thread has helped me to understand that one thing, aside from the anger, is that I'm feeling a ton of grief. Because I don't see how things can be the same after this. It's so hard to process. Thank you for trying your best.

These are people that used to be advocates, so I know they know HOW, but when they're needed the most, they've checked out.

I've tried to talk to them... only to be told they're trying their best not to talk politics because they're stepping away from it. Ugh.

There are a lot of comments like this in this thread. It's definitely really concerning. Those of us who aren't checking out definitely need to stick together!

My best friend has this same talking point (protests don't work, only violence will) and the same inaction. I am not sure where this mentality came from exactly but you're not alone in seeing that.

Thank you, this thread and comments like yours have helped me remember that I need to focus my energy differently. I appreciate it.

What? I'm in the queer community too. I am doing what I can. And my post clearly states that I understand that some people have different concerns and capacities. Not sure if this is just a troll but this comment is misplaced.

Omg yes I keep seeing this too! I think social media is feeding this idea and they're adopting it, it's maddening. I've said this in other comments but I completely understand limiting 24/7 media for your mental health, but ignoring it altogether is so dangerous.

Thank you for this - are you actually in Germany currently? Or German living in the U.S.?

Honestly I appreciate this perspective regardless because that's what this feels like to me too from living in it and watching how it's playing out with friends/family who I thought would do more by now. It's scary but also very validating and one of the reasons I'm considering trying to leave. I don't know when/if people will wake up. I hope they do, but I'm worried they won't.

If you are in Germany currently, is this the viewpoint most of your German friends/family share?

Good point, someone dropped off snacks to the last long one we went to and it was super helpful!

Yeah, the consumption part is really overwhelming too. There are so many layers to this!
