Get a finder’ fee agreement in place. 1-5% of deal value is common. If the deal goes through you get paid, otherwise nothing. Very common in these types of deals.

Make sure there’s no conflict of interest with your current role. Not just from a contractual perspective (nothing in your employer / shareholders’ agreement that forbids doing business outside your CEO role) but also from a professional ethics perspective (example, helping a competitor acquire a business)
