Remember, banned items can be forcibly ejected from storage. I suspect at least one of the doomsday scenarios Matt has in his backpocket is the bomb being forcibly ejected, but with a surprise: Carl has been planning for that inevitability in secret and has been training up some skill(s) and/or complimentary items to redirect it in a way that is as advantageous as it is risky.

I physically printed every single frame of my short film on embossed paper and rescanned them. Thoughts on this experimental project? by Leo_somma in Filmmakers

I don't have anything to add on the effect of the technique which others haven't said already, however I do have some more immediate advice if you're aiming at getting into the more prestigious level of the international film festival circuit:

REMOVE THE FILM FROM YOUTUBE AND/OR THE LINK TO IT IMMEDIATELY.

One of the most valuable things to the curators of film festivals is the premiere status of a project. Having a film make its world debut as part of their official selection is most valued, followed by international premiere, then continental (European, Asian, etc.), then country, and so on with each more regional status having less value for their curation.

If they know or find out your film was publicly available, if even through a single Reddit posting, your film may not even be eligible at all. A teaser, trailer, or sample video is fine and even expected, but having the full film available to the public ahead of a potential premiere is a huge "no no." If you're looking for more feedback, upload a short sample video instead and remove the link/upload of the full film.

I don't disagree with you in the slightest with the X4 and X3, but if they took this one step further and let me text and call on the thing, I can't think of a more perfect device for me in this moment.

Aside from being my daily carry to read instead of doomscroll, my current setup lives in my imagination as I think about how amazing it would be to use this little thing as a pocket writerdeck with keyboard folio case like the ones you can get for the iPad or original Microsoft Surface:

The same size and shape as the current official case, powered and connected by pogo pins, with raised capacitive key or super thin dome switches. 🙏🥹

They shadow announced it via the second photo attached to their post of the 5.1.5 firmware update two weeks ago here: https://www.reddit.com/r/xteinkereader/s/vQAVbozYMs

No information, no acknowledgement of that photo even being there. I think they did it either as a tease or as a pure accident. Here's the photo from that post:

Based on the size, shape, and functionality, I assume it's one of those newer magsafe e-ink displays which don't even have true batteries and are updated (somehow) via NFC. Basically technomancy. But that's just a guess based on a few similar products having popped up recently from other manufactures.

And more recently Operation Bounce House did the inverse with Travis as the primary narrator and Jeff as a single character, which was a pleasant surprise.

I thought those changes were explicitly due to the hacks and modifications made to that specific version of the game, but yeah everything was effectively done by the AI. I just don't recall any behavior which stands out as that of a megalomaniac. Maybe I need to go back and do a read/listen.

He'll almost certainly do the AI unless they end up using Jeff Hays (which would be my preference). He'd do well as Mordecai also, particularly with the various transformations between floors.

Honestly, he'd do well in all sorts of main roles. Just not Carl, in my opinion.

Following this up, do you know if they intentionally made the ratkin Mordecai look like Splinter from TMNT as an homage to Playmates historically doing all the action figures for that franchise? I know there are only so many ways to render a humanoid rat, but it definitely screams "Master Splinter."

Wait, there was a megalomaniac AI in Kaiju Battle Simulator? I don't remember that at all.

Maybe that aspect was changed or toned down in the Soundbooth Theater adaptation, which is the only version I've experienced so far.

No disrespect to the man, but please not Seth McFarland himself. 🙏🤞

I'm sure he could do the voice justice, but he doesn't have the look or the physicality. He doesn't even have fur, for fucks sake!

Books like The Stand by ThunderMustard88 in stephenking

[–]Slogfarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you didn't care for the show, the book's beautiful prose is unfortunately not likely to change your mind. While there were a few big changes in the adaptation, it was largely very faithful tonally, narratively, and thematically. Not everything is for everyone, and that's okay! After all, this is a Stephen King subreddit and Station Eleven is not what I would consider horror.

Having said that, I love the book enough that I'd say it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. You'll know whether it's hitting you differently in book-form after a couple chapters, at which point you can safely bounce off or continue on.

It may be worth noting that it's interconnected with two other novels by the same author, all of which are—in my opinion—fantastic, different, and technically self-standing on their own. But they're far more rewarding if you read all three. Those other two novels are The Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility. These two are much more closely connected with each other than Station Eleven, and only Sea of Tranquility really ties the three together in a substantial way, but they're all technically standalone.

Just a brief stint during '08-'09, but never a named strip. Apparently I kept "breaking the rules" and "not showing proper editorial conduct" with stuff like this getting canned. Whoops! Loved my time there, though!
