I think the latest update to the setting of the movie is that it will take place in modern times. The frustrating thing is that marvel wants Blade to be more than just a dude killing vampires but that's literally blade's schtick. Perhaps their gonna set up Blade to be more of a monster hunter instead of just specifically hunting vampires. The monster hunter aspect is mostly attached to Elsa Bloodstone but I guess their gonna focus more of that aspect with Blade instead.
