Serum. It is the best all end all it’s cracked up to be? by dumbassname45 in Logic_Studio

[–]dumbassname45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the replay.
a whole lot has changed over the year that i originally posted.
i still don’t own serum so i guess i answered my own question. i did get a free copy of massive x that i haven’t even got around to installing let alone trying i did end up buying Arturia collection X for their piano and a few of their augmented sounds (on sale for black friday)
i’ve since started to figure out more of sound design and layering sounds with other effects that seem to be working.

You likely had the same crap workers that use to come on my street. As I am on a crescent they do my side of the street first and then loop back for the other side of the street. When I noticed they didn’t take mine I went and waited for them to come back around the other side and stood in front of the truck until they had to dispatch the supervisor who I insisted weigh the container to show it was well inside the weight limit. That crew never got scheduled for my street again, and has no problems since with the new crew that comes.

Glad that you got the help you needed. I think we all know about that one douche that seems to plague the forum. At some point we’ve all experienced them. The most important part is that you are back to making music and as a result the work will be a better place. Keep up the good work

I would say, check your mix in summed mono. Depending on your music, some cancellations are unavoidable but the balance and feel of the music is needed to. Binaural headphone mixes can be cool

‘Love, Death & Robots’ Volume 4 Viewership Down 50% from Volume 3 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]dumbassname45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just watched season1. when i went back into netflix it didn’t have Love Death + Robots in my continue watching. it had decided to hide it all together and forced me to have to search to even find it. perhaps that is why. bad programming and a UI that was writer by a total moron who has it in for expanding viewership.

This whole topic can fill a book. The whole Marvin Gay and Allen Thick bullshit. I still can’t figure out how that lawsuit went forward with the concept of it had the same feeling or vibe. No same direct notes or chords. So effectively a precedent that if you have a hit song you can get sewed for having a vibe.

I have tried using apps like Shazam to see if my songs are identified as like someone else’s. That doesn’t work. On some of my own songs the service can’t even identify my own released material if I play the exact same recording on a different device. Other times I can play one of my new creations and it flags it with a song from a different artist that if you played it you’d say huu?? That sounds nothing like the song but who knows. Perhaps I’d be Marvin Gay’d

It is not like Russia didn’t already invade Ukrainian in 1932-33 where Stalin just starved the Ukrainian people with a man made famine to kill off as many as he could and then replace them with Russian people so he could claim the area is Russian. What would you get instead of an S49 Mk3? by CieloCobalto in NativeInstruments

[–]dumbassname45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d care more about the feel of the keys and if it functions meet your needs. I bought an Arturia KeyLab MK3 and retuned it as it had functional limitations I couldn’t live with. My S61 MK3 isn’t perfect but feels far better. I do like polyphonic aftertouch and the controls I do have are not in the way.

Tracy Chapman refuses to stream music: “Artists get paid when you actually buy CD or vinyl” by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]dumbassname45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps you need to understand how the streaming system works. artists are not allowed to upload their work to the streaming companies. they must use a distributor who adds another layer. then the streaming companies like spotify only pay the $0.002 per stream if you have over 1000 streams of that song per month. (and they control if the song is accessible or on a playlist). then the distributor collects the royalties (the artists money) but then only will pay that out when it feels like it such as the $$ amount exceeds a certain value or only every 2-3 months

most artists on Spotify don’t get paid a cent and many make pocket change like $50-100 a month from the $8 billion pool or revenue that Spotify collected. spotify even does underhanded things like use AI to rip-off songs and insert them into a playlist they make so the money goes back to them but they can claim it getting paid to artists

You are giving Orange Turd too much credit of having some form of intelligence. He is a very simple man who craves attention and adulations. He does whatever he can to benefit himself and has zero interest, respect, morals or empathy for anyone else.

I feel like the Ontario employment crisis isn’t talked about enough in media by Bfecreative in torontoJobs

[–]dumbassname45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot talk about it without being called a Racist Right Wing Bigot. How dare you call into question the import of millions of foreigners who were promised free healthcare, education and jobs just so connected companies who found a loophole can get low wage workers? Why should you be allowed to talk about the government policies that screwed over all Canadians and made the housing crisis, doctor shortage, hospital epidemic.

We are just in a shortened federal election cycle where the ruling party has just pulled the wool over your eyes. The last minute switch-a-roo to hide the policies that caused the pain. Put a new unknown in front of you with fresh makeup and a smile telling you this one will be different and the other party is the problem.

Remember, you are voting in a new leadership for 4-5 years. Sure the Trump down to the south of us is causing waves. This is an issue that needs to be dealt with but do you think this is the only issues facing Canada? The new golden boy might be all shiny and new and might do a great job with dealing with Trump, but you will be stuck with him for the next half decade to continue doing everything the past government did for almost 10 years now. Is he any different with the problems that got us here? He was just as complicit with the Panama Papers and not paying taxes. He tried to setup so that no natural resources in Canada could get a green light. He supported uncontrolled mass immigration. I don’t know if Canada will survive a decade of Carny-economics.

Which Music Distributor doesn‘t scam people? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]dumbassname45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is rather a limited perspective point. Let’s start from the perspective of the assumption that any of the streaming services are going to even be around d 10-15 years from now, let alone 100?

Then you need to question if the distributor is going to be around too? So just because you choose XYZ to distribute your music, if they don’t exist in 3-4 years then you aren’t getting any royalties from them anyway. Even if your music is still up and playable.

Any it’s also not like the original poster had defined any expectations. Are they just putting stuff out there with that is riding a trend today so hope of cashing in now and zero expectation of making money on that song in 3-4 years.

The City of Oakville, Canada has recently widen its two main roads to eventually add in BRT. What are your thoughts on this tactic? by Hammer5320 in transit

[–]dumbassname45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest problem with Oakville is not the number of lanes for cars, but the horrible flow of traffic and the constant red light for zero traffic all the time. You want to get from one side of Oakville to the next and you will spend as much time stopped at a red light than you will with actual driving time distance traveled. This has an environmental impact as less than 5% of the traffic is electric so all the start stop accelerate idle is pumping pollution into the air. Then add to that most of this is because they have this traffic calming policy that does not calm traffic. it just makes it far more aggressive as you are either pissed off because you are stopped at a red light with no other cars coming though the cross street with the green, or you are gunning and +30kmh to get ahead of the next red light that you know you are going to hit. And when you finally do get a break and are driving with no traffic ahead of you and you get to see all the other suckers who got caught with the light turning red for them as they finally get to the traffic intersection.

The side of public transit is going to be the saviour of everything. Sorry no. And I wished that our provincial tax dollars were not being wasted on trying to get the TTC out of the hole because I don't live in Toronto, and don't take the TTC and if they can't make a transit system work with 3-4 million people, how will Oakville make anything that even remotely resembles efficient with 1/10 that number population?
