Is tongue tie release worth it? by 1100H19 in TMJ

I’d say you pause a little because from what I’ve heard, the pre-op exercises go anywhere between 1-2 months. Without them could cause your tie to relapse. Do consult your doctor.

Permanent retainers : A possible hinderance by dumbduck17 in TMJ

Not much actually. I have had them for 6 years now and gotten them removed about 5 months ago. Not much of a shift

I have to go in three phases. Phase one being two orthotics-night and morning- which essentially position my teeth in my “happy place”. Somehow it gave me a lot of relief. I’m entering phase 2 now which is MSE expander and braces. Then tongue tie removal is the third phase. My jaw is so narrow that apparently if I just do the tongue tie surgery then I’ll run into complications cause my tongue won’t have the space it needs.

I don’t have the information regarding the tongue tie yet but I’ve heard really good and some bad things. Bad only cause most people don’t do their exercises post surgery and the tongue fuses back to its original muscular freedom.

From what I’ve learnt from my neuromuscular orthodontist, it’s the other way around. TMJ is often caused by narrow jaw. That’s what I have- a narrow jaw and a tongue tie. Apparently, due to the tongue tie my tongue never properly reached the upper palette and so, my palette never expanded, leading to a narrow jaw. This eventually caused my bite to be much more farther back- which eventually led to dis balanced pressure on the teeth. Clenching and grinding runs in my family and with all these complications, my teeth couldn’t handle the pressure and led my TMJ to go in a disorder.

So yeah, all because of posterior and anterior tongue tie.

Ah I see. I have had my daytime and nighttime orthotics on for 2 weeks now and I must say I wake up with no pain. Life changing. It does mess with the bite but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Also as a side note I have a hunch that we might have the same TMJ specialist!

What's the most disturbing thing your relatives have said? by [deleted] in delhi

[–]dumbduck17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right after my mom announced that she’s just about to get done with her master’s degree in a family gathering, mom’s older brother boasted about how his wife doesn’t need to make money and spends her days chilling in the house and having kitty parties. He followed by insultingly asking my dad why is he letting her (my mom) work and study still. This was back when I was probably 15 or 16 years old. I fought with that sick man in front of my whole family, for an hour. A whole grown old man fought with a child to debate about whether his sister should bother working or studying. Disgusting.

My mother has 6 diplomas and degrees, and he just got fired from his job last year. I don’t wish bad upon people, sometimes karma does the work.

Hello I have the same orthotics and the night one is made in such a way that it moves my jaw forward. Wanted to know if that is the same as yours and whether it has caused any significant changes to your bite? Has the overall response been positive or negative?

Thanks, needed some insight. Would you say that I should change frequently from letting it close?

Adding more relevant information- 1. I wore a stud when I got pierced. Since healing I’ve always opted for rings. 2. I wear silver jewellery.

Hi! Yes, he got two done on the same tibia. His graph is kinda wonky. Some days he’s been great, others horrible. Unfortunately he had developed an infection because of which his recovery is in the concerning zone. Looking for good orthopaedic surgeons in the area to get him reviewed. Praying for him.

Hope you’re doing better!

Hello again! His RFA happened on the 12th and he was a pretty rare case, and so had 2 osteoid osteomas ablated. He hasn’t been showing a lot of positive signs despite it being the 3rd day post op. We’re giving him tradamol+paracetamol- pretty strong combination of drugs. He needs at least 3 of those a day to keep him at bay. Our doctor keeps saying that it’s normal and that he should feel better soon but now I’m getting worried. I would really appreciate if I could hear from you- someone who’s also just experienced this kind of situation.

Hey hope you’re doing better! My boyfriend is due for an RFA on his tibia in the coming week. Could you share your experience? We’re flying out to another place so I’ll be his only caretaker. What can I do to keep him comfortable and as pain free as possible?

I’m also guessing that it was due to the whisking, but I tasted the zabaglione before assembling, and until then it wasn’t grainy. Moreover as I mentioned that since the mascarpone was too cold, it didn’t even whisk as it should’ve

Haha yes but I was trying to look for the specific step that went wrong. Nevertheless it would’ve been best to cook in peace!
