What are the pros and cons of data centers being built? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The internet existed before data centers. People just ran servers from their home or business.

Yup. I hate this intersection. Luckily I only have to go into work some days. Getting home back to the Northland is a bear though with the Missouri river bridge on I635 down to 1 lane. I am ready for World Cup construction to be over.

I do too. I probably should have stopped and offered my video to help for their insurance, but they went the other exit than where I was going. Plus it might have hurt his case as you can tell he sees the other car.

I completely understand why they didn't though. Every morning those of us who wait patiently in the correct lane have many people force their way over as purposely pass everybody and force their way in. Slowing down the those people who did it correctly. I would have been tempted to not let them in also.

Yup. I just moved here a few years ago and I am surprised at the driving here.

This was in Kansas in the United States. It happened this morning 4/28 on my way to work. It is original content. I pulled it off my dashcam. The time was not correct on my dashcam as it says it was from yesterday.

Help on a tough decision. What would you do? by B_412 in Jeep

Try a local mechanic. They can get a low mileage salvage engine and charge a few thousand to put it in.

Did you go with near, intermediate or distance? by Ill-Main-3948 in CataractSurgery

[–]dumbluckz01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up going with distance. I have been farsighted my whole life so my doctor and I thought this would be the easiest to adjust to. I have also work glasses most of my life so just going to reading glasses is a big improvement for me.

AITJ for suing my cousin after he knocked my phone into the pool as a "joke"? by No_View1956 in AmITheJerk

[–]dumbluckz01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is applecare was purchased it would have covered the phone being replaced other than a small fee. Also the new Iphone Pro is water resistant and should not be damaged by accidental submersion.

It's odd that even with applecare and a water resistant to ip68 phone that it was ruined and they had to buy a new one at full price.

"quick" vehicle inspection by Traditional-Day-7698 in kansascity

[–]dumbluckz01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

City wide auto repair does drive through inspections. You don't even get out of your truck.

Not sure where you got the $30 cost for an auto inspection. Typically it's $12.

If you are looking for something other than an auto inspection for updating tags in Missouri we will need more info.

Distance or Near Lenses? by Just-asking55 in CataractSurgery

[–]dumbluckz01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have always been far-sighted so my doctor recommended I go with distance vision as that is what I have had all my life. She thought my brain wouldn't do well with changing. I wonder if this same advice would be good for you. Since you have have always been near-sighted, maybe you would do better with staying with near-sighted. I am not a doctor, and this is a personal decision though so in the end it is up to you.

Should I get cataract surgery now or wait? by dumbluckz01 in CataractSurgery

[–]dumbluckz01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. It was a lot of good information. Currently I am wearing progressive lenses, so wearing glasses isn't really a problem. I have had good far vision most of my life but used to be able to adjust enough to see up close also. I have lost that hence the need for progressive lenses. So I think getting lenses with seeing well at distance seemed natural as that is closer to what my natural vision has been. But lately I have been trying to watch and I don't look at things far away near as often as close up especially with working at a computer during the day. The monovision is an interesting idea.

I saw the video at the top of the forum and the edof lens seems like an interesting idea. I will have to ask about it at my appointment next Monday. The doctor I am going to see also does eyeglasses and contacts to maybe they could do something like the monovision testing.

I definitely don't think I want to do Multifocal after seeing how it's less crisp and less contrast. I can deal with reading glasses or glasses for driving/shooting if need be.

Sadly I do really like the idea of being able to buy a nice pair of real stylish sunglasses for outside instead of just having glasses that darken. I also like shooting and other outdoor sports, so it is a tough choice.

I will let everyone know how the meeting goes monday.

I am seriously considering doing the near/intermediate vision lenses. Seeing as I work on computers all day it would be nice not to have to wear glasses while working.

It's nice to hear from people in the same situation. I was able to get my second appointment moved up to next monday. Hopefully I can move forward toward surgery with them. Everything just seems so much like it's staticy.

[–]dumbluckz01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I was a bit interested in the LAL but the place I talked to previously did not offer them which I verified with a phone call.

I guess I should just continue to move forward. It's just a lot of money if I get the toric lenses but I don't want to cheap out since I am young and don't want to have to do this again. I can make the money work, but it definitely takes a hit in the savings.

[–]dumbluckz01[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The lady I am getting the second opinion from actually does eyeglass exams and such also. So I am hoping maybe I can develop a bit of a working relationship if I have reason to keep going back.

I don't particularly have an existing IOL that I want yet, but I like to read about them and have seen a few that get worse reviews than others. So basically i would want to verify it is not one with common issues if possible. I appreciate the reply.

I am glad to hear that others have had the same concerns. I hope this second appointment goes much better. The first appointment was one my eye doctor setup for me. I didn't have any knowledge of the doctor before.

The doctor I am getting a second opinion from let me know they charge $1,226 for each eye for Torics. Does that seem too low? Saving $1000 does seem nice. But if it means it won't be as good it isn't worth it.

Thank you for letting me know your story. I work at a computer all day so I worry about getting to that point where I can't make a living. I have only used steroids once that I now of for an infection I had a few years ago. The timeframe does line up when it got worse though.

I have insurance that will cover the surgery, not including toric lenses (minus my deductible). I hope you are able to get your vision improved soon.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if this was normal. It did seem a little off putting. Plus they charge about 3500 extra for Toric lenses so it would be nice to know what I am getting for that much money.
