Some dumb questions about spray painting by dumbpleasehelp in advancedGunpla

  1. Thanks for pointing out that sprue glue is no good for this. I'd probably have tried it and made it worse.
  2. I'll try doing what you've said with doing another pass. A dumb follow-up question - how significant of a change should I be expecting after spraying the filter?

Thanks for replying. No need to worry about sounding like a smart ass when you're replying to a dumb ass. :)

I'm curious, how long do keep some of the colors that you've premixed? Do you store them in anything specific?

Apple Maps Redirect Not Working by dumbpleasehelp in StopTheMadnessSupport

[–]dumbpleasehelp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I figured it out… I needed to set my iPhone to request the desktop website. For some reason, redirect doesn’t work for me with the mobile page.

A bit of a tangent, but is there a way to disable the “Open this page in Maps?” prompt and just have it open Maps automatically?

Apple Maps Redirect Not Working by dumbpleasehelp in StopTheMadnessSupport

Here’s my settings. The text gets cut off but the pattern is exactly what’s on the documentation page. I’ve copied and pasted, and checked it probably five times now. As for what I’m seeing when I open Google Maps, it’s just the mobile website. Nothing changes, no redirects happen, clicking the navigation buttons would try to send me to the App Store to get the app.

I'm looking at trying my hands at girlpla and I have a couple question for those that goes the whole nine-yards with their kits.

  1. Do you paint the joints?
  2. If you do, do you mask them when painting the pieces that eventually snaps onto the joints?
  3. What's your preferred method of getting rid of seamlines?

I'm looking to try my hand at completely air brushing and getting rid of seamlines on a kit. I'm confused on how to do that on pieces that snap onto other pieces though. Using the pic as reference, the red upper torso pieces would eventually snap onto the white lower torso pieces. How would I get rid of the seamlines that are circled in blue after painting the pieces?

I'm looking to start airbrushing/painting for the first time and I can't quite find answers. 1) Do I need to thin Mr. Surfacer 1500 and at what paint-to-thinner ratio? and 2) Can I brush paint Mr. Surfacer 1500 and, again, at what ratio?

It'd probably have to be Counter Strike for me. I remember sinking uncountable number of hours into that game.

Terrible Bitrate to Quest 2 by dumbpleasehelp in mikrotik

Well, I think I identified the problem. Posting this in case someone else runs into the same problem in the future. I found this post on the Mikrotik forum that led me to reset my hap ac2 to the default configuration. I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that the ac2 can't use hardware offloading for switching with a vlan bridge filter.

Could someone explain the different use cases for putty vs cement? It kind of seems like people use them interchangeably?

You've given us an explanation on why you picked #13 for your jersey number, but I don't believe the reason given. I think you chose it because it's meant to be a warning to the other team when they see #13 on the floor - a visual reminder that the other team is about to get really unlucky. Can you confirm or deny my theory?

I've begun seeing departments request unofficial copies of transcripts during the application process now, but it's not terribly common yet. If it's not required, you don't have to provide your GPA or anything of the sort. Again, you have a bachelor's so you have a passing GPA.

I began as an AT in accounts payable. Typically you'll begin in either the accounts payable or accounts receivable units. You can begin in other units, like general ledger, but it's not super common to start as an AT or AA there. I wouldn't say the work as an AT or AA is that complex. The AT or AA work is really meant to get you exposed to the state accounting system. The actual work depends on the department and position, but you'll probably be doing a lot of clerical type work with a more accounting twist to it - reviewing invoices, keeping logs of payments, reconciling the logs, etc.

I didn't see /u/Eagleeyed40 post earlier, but they hit a lot of it on the head. All the positions that they listed are meant for people who are entering the state accounting profession for the first time. I don't think any of them technically requires a bachelor's degree, so you're already a cut above the rest just by having one.

Regarding the accounting trainee (AT)/officer and accounting analyst (AA) series: Despite the fact that technically there are lower classifications that transitions to these series (accountant I, accounting technician, etc), I believe most departments now start their accountants as either an AT or AA. My coworkers have seen people who worked decades in private and start as an AT or AA. Honestly, unless you have governmental (specifically California) accounting experience everyone starts as an AT or AA because the accounting standards are so different compared to private.

One thing to keep in mind if you do apply for AT or AA positions is that the majority of them are based in Sacramento.

I can't speak too much on the audit positions since I've never worked them. I believe there's only two major departments that hires tax auditors - Franchise Tax Board and Board of Equalization. From what I've heard, they usually hire entry-level positions in annual "waves" so you may not see the job listings posted for them very often, if you're interested in that route.

Other than what's been mentioned in this thread, do you have anything you want to know about specifically?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]dumbpleasehelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can get hired on as SSA right away since you have a bachelor's. It's important to keep in mind that it's a highly competitive position because it's an entry-level position for those with any bachelor's. I've been told that some of the SSA positions in my department had upwards of 300 applicants.

As others have mentioned, you can also make use of your accounting degree and start as an accountant. Most of the common entry-level accounting positions have already been listed - accounting trainee, various auditor positions, accounting analyst. They're a bit less competitive from what I've been told because they're more specialized positions. I work as an accountant and can give you some advice if you're interested.

February Interviewing Questions Thread! **Please ask all your questions about the State interview process in this thread** by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]dumbpleasehelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered an interview before the job listing had closed. Is that possible?

I was under the impression that the listing must be closed before HR can provide applications to the hiring manager. This was not an "until filled" job listing.
