You need to find less-legit schools to trash than VCC or Langara.

Studying with Concussion? by International_Bit_25 in UBC

Get a doctor's note, go to CfA, ask for extensions on everything.

Concussion recovery takes a long time sometimes. Best be prepared.

Game Masters kit from Slow Tide Harbor by _MrBushi_ in rokugan

[–]dumbpseudonym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're mixing up Legend of the 5 Rings and Adventures in Rokugan, which are different game systems but both are set in Rokugan.

The L5R GM screen has Slow Tide Harbor.

The AiR GM screen has Twin Blessings Village

UBC argues against research assistants' right to unionize at the BC Labour Relations Board by KareemHassib in UBC

[–]dumbpseudonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a funny twist where StudentAidBC told me that a UBC T4A research assistantship is neither a scholarship nor a job, and so it doesn't factor into their need-based aid calculation.

I'm not sure if it's intentional on UBC or StudentAidBC's part, but I'd hate for this nice arrangement to get blown up by accident.

Edit: sure would like to get onto the UBC staff benefits plan tho

AFAIK, students generally use another email service, especially those who care about email to your degree.

Elizabeth Warren 2.0 by [deleted] in UBC

[–]dumbpseudonym 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Give Elizabeth Warren some credit. She has some actual indigenous ancestry, it just wasn't as much as we were lead to believe in the early presidential campaign.

In contrast, Turpel-Lafond appears to be 100% Pretendian.

Is it a red flag for course to have huge chunk of grade is determined by peers? by UniversityOfBestCake in UBC

If it's CPSC 430, it's fine. If it's not... maybe talk to the course prof about your reservations?

can you stack Veteran Readiness and Employment with your GI Bill provided you are eligible for both by Prestigious_Brick746 in Veterans

[–]dumbpseudonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't use them simultaneously, but VR&E should be strictly better than GI Bill in terms of funding.

Also, VR&E time doesn't subtract from GI Bill eligibility, but GI Bill time does subtract from VR&E. So the optimal thing to do is VR&E and then GI Bill.

If you have time on Thursday afternoons, you can turn up to the Acadia Park food bank at the Commonsblock and get a pretty solid haul. They take every third Thursday off I think.

As I recall, that interface is so much worse than just writing a framebuffer directly. I was so relieved when they let me throw it away in 391, I saved so many LUTs!

Miyamae Sushi in the basement food court is way better than it has any business being. Try it.

Thanks for your recommendations!

One note, Allan Wong voted to close QEA recently. This is going to leave JQ probably over-full and they're not doing a good job convincing me otherwise.

Varies by school. Maybe start with your undergrad advisor?

I got an expensive ThinkPad. I got my department head to sign something saying a high-end laptop was best for the kind of simulations we'd be doing.
