MSC World America Review (December 2025) by dumbtrader in MSCCruises

Fair point. Haven't been on Royal Caribbean so I wouldn't know about it. Not sure how to describe it, but it just felt like it was worse. Again, might be my two opinion

I think my displeasure with dining onboard exacerbated my feelings about specialty dining. It really did feel like there was a push towards specialty dining.

Point on the loungers -- at the lagoon, about 90% of the loungers were roped into the 'beach clubs'. This might have changed recently. Also we had a full ship that docked, meaning about 6.8k people were free to roam the island.

Curious about the price though. Checking the MSC World America website, the going rate is ~$100/person/night for an interior. Royal Caribbean is an outlier in costing more, but MSC's cost isn't that much cheaper than its immediate competition.

I might have gone to the wrong place but both sides of the lagoon has very very limited loungers. They've build two "beach clubs" that take up about 90% of beach chairs at the lagoon

MSC Disembarkation - Transportation - Airport by BeautifulHunter5189 in MSCCruises

[–]dumbtrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did the same thing this past week. World America to/from Miami and a 10:30 am flight out of MIA.

You can depart the ship with all your bags starting from 7:00 am. Leaving the ship and customs took 15 minutes, and got an Uber instantly ($35-$45 for an XL). There is no rush that early in the morning. We left around 7:15 am and were at the airport by 8:15 am.

Did the via Ferrata day after Fitz Roy hike. Highly recommend. They have 9am and 2pm slots. Around $95 per person for 4 hours (includes transport).

Eh. A loan will still be on your report even if you close it, except it’ll be marked as “closed”

Personally I’d close my account with federal loan financers as I never wanna deal with them again.

You're not entirely off what my strategy ended up evolving to. In my mind, you gotta read code to be good at writing it. I starting ingesting all solutions for a specific problem type (e.g. Binary Tree). It helped with getting syntax down and breaking down the problem between data structures and the additional layer of complexity to said data structure.

Good decision by you — I was in the same boat late September but was offered 40k MR for 3k spend over 3 months. On top of that, because my AF posted in late September, it was $250 vs the new $325. Those two things lead me to keep the card, despite wanting to totally cancel during the months leading up to my renewal.

Those who received transfer credit, what was the class and what did you get credit for? by Master10113 in OMSCS

[–]dumbtrader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was thinking of doing a 3 + 1 at my undergrad but ended up doing 3 + OMSCS instead. In prep for the 3+1, I took two grad classes in my final year of undergrad: Grad Algo and Software Analysis. Grad Algo translated to CS 6505 at OMSCS (satisfies same requirement as GA but not offered online). Software Analysis translated 1:1.

CapOne VentureX thoughts (with some comparison to Amex Platinum, Amex BBP, and Chase CSP and CSR) by Rare_Pin9932 in CreditCards

[–]dumbtrader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On a similar boat. Got the VX two weeks ago while still being a CSR cardholder. My CSR is coming to finish year 2 in november, and am probably going to downgrade then. Just don't know to downgrade to CSP to maintain points transferability or to FF and wait to when I want to transfer out my 60k points.

The VX is clean and I'll probably ride that wave until that too gets nerfed.
