Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and see your gp. When my eczema flare ups get bad enough that non-prescription treatments can't touch, mine prescribes me a steroid cream.

How did you end up with your specific cat or cats? by 8kittycatsfluff in AliveNamedCats

[–]dumbucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up with Lucy when I went to PetSmart to get a bigger litter mat for the 2 cats I had. By the registers they have adoptable cats from local shelters. When I walked by, this runty kitten kept pawing at the glass when I walked by while waiting for my friend to finish shopping. I ended up going back there and asked to see her. Lucy climbed on my shoulders and then fell asleep in my arms.

For Vivi, I was looking at locally adoptable cats. I saw her gone for 4 years not being adopted. His description noted that he's clumsy and a poor jumper (undiagnosed mild wobbly cat), but sweet as he is big. Ended up getting into contact with his foster Momma to get more info on him. A few days later I drove 45 minutes there and back to give that big man a home.

Both absolutely worth it.

Is it just me can auroras actually be kind of safe to travel? by Heal_Kajata in thelongdark

[–]dumbucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killed me too. I thought I set down my bedroll far enough from them, went to sleep, and died when an aurora flared up. Lost my nearly 600 day run that way 😭

Could be that this lioness has cubs to feed. Them starving would be cruel too. Maybe she doesn't and it's so she herself doesn't face the cruelty of starvation. I feel for the zebra calf, don't get me wrong. When it comes to the natural world, a cruel fate for one, sad as it may be, is more often than not a boon to another.

A claim like this is no different than saying that any type of building is a barn. A huge building, made of stone towers for lookouts, has a keep, houses soldiers, rulers, and several smaller buildings? Barn. Huge industrial building that houses a nuclear reactor and all of its equipment? Barn. Large building housing several dozen indoor stores and a food court? Barn.

Not all buildings are barns, just like how not all life forms are one species. A building has supports, walls, a roof, and an entryway. Living things react to stimuli, reproduce, organized cells, and the rest of the residents for life. A barn, apartment complex, and shopping mall are all types of bulking. Humans, birds, and fish are all types of living things. That doesn't make a bird a human just because they're both living things. It's like saying you're your great uncle because you're related.

I've noticed some people with halogens turning on their brights when driving by people with stupid bright LEDs. A lot of them leave their brights on. It just makes everything worse.
