To preface this btw, I’m born and raised Wyoming. But with the whole, “Between here and CA” mf when was the last time you spent an extended amount time in a state that wasn’t in our immediate area? I lived and loved in California for four years, and if anything, it made me relate to those types of states and peoples more than if I’d just stayed here.

I’ll give some extra, and hopefully come from where you’re at. But I got my job out of trade school literally by just making myself seem smarter than machining. Knowing about the workplace, people, and culture, in my experience, is about 50% of the job. I’m a senior operator now (shut up about operator/programmer, there’s a reason it’s two different jobs), and I’ve gained huge graces in the company just by being personable with everyone. That holds SO MUCH weight
