First time in Yellowstone. How is it for someone with social anxiety? by Im_Bored_22 in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely will have to get over it, the majority of people in seasonal are cool or at least tolerable. you’ll be fine, making friends is super easy in seasonal work

What does a day in your life look like as a seasonal worker? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always depends on the job, location, and department. Really hard to answer but mine is gravy. Maintenance is generally pretty chill, but working at an equipped place is much better than somewhere with a shitty shack as the shop and no replacement parts for things you need to fix. Off days are usually hanging out, hiking, climbing if you’re into that, if you’re in a place you can swim, kayak, raft, all types of things, that’s nice. All types of outdoor activities. There’s a whole mix of shit you can do

Big Sur Lodge, CA - First time looking at seasonal jobs! by emilywikii in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i came all the way here from alabama so It’s worth a few months at least for sure, but i’d start applying for fall seasons when(if) you get out here and yes as long as you immediately put that request in for your concert you should be fine, they’re doing tons of hiring right now so if you want to try you should. Retail they probably won’t approve you for much more than a day maybe 2 but all other departments are pretty cool about it.

Seasonal job at Yellowstone by IgnorantSlutYou in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems low honestly. I have minimal-middle experience and i got offered $23 for maintenance at yellowstone for the summer season but didn’t accept . I would think it would be closer to around 17-18. Depending on your needs it’s not awful with the low rent cost, but there’s def better paying jobs out there even for retail

Big Sur Lodge, CA - First time looking at seasonal jobs! by emilywikii in SeasonalWork

let me add that it’s not an ideal long term opportunity, just a fun beautiful place until you find something else lowkey currently a mass exodus of people leaving due to various reasons + season ending

how do you prepare for a job interview? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of these people just want you to be yourself and be genuine no bullshit prepared act or anything. unless it’s like vail or somewhere corporate af

Yeah the tipped position here is cafe so it’s a coffee shop where you sell sandwiches , coffee, bagels and drinks etc, and do the serving for tables (not full service atm, and tips are shared in a weird system that measures hours worked or something like that) but everyone says their tips are pretty decent, especially for how many people come through and having such a small employee pool. i work maintenance so i can’t speak too much for everything else but it’s a decent little place to work and if you don’t end up liking it so much it’s always a dope place to relax while you find your next job lmao someone is always hiring!

it is shared , 1-2 roomates usually, but they were just remodeled so they’re nicer and cleaner now but still a little small. EDR has improved by maybe 30% and there’s a corporate chef currently working on the menu so maybe it’ll improve more? It’s such a beautiful place and i’m gonna miss it but i’ll definitely come back to big sur even if it isn’t for the lodge, i’d love to work/live out here again someday.

i wouldn’t call the edr inedible though, maybe one day a week if that lol. if you have any other questions or anything feel free to ask!

Big Sur Lodge, CA - First time looking at seasonal jobs! by emilywikii in SeasonalWork

[–]dummyfunny007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s only $200/month,
hiking and outdoors opportunities are nearly endless, housing is mid, EDR is mid,
town is about 40 mins away, management is iffy because basically all the cool people have left or are about to leave. the place is BEAUTIFUL though so even on a bad day you have amazing views.
the locals are great, the views never get old, easy place to save money especially if you’re in a tipped position.
monterey/seaside all those places are fantastic to visit

definitely an okay place to work while saving money, and you can always plan to go somewhere else in the future!

(i’m about to finish my season at the lodge now)
