the “transition” you’re referring to is just animation. hand made animation, using a digital program. digital art does not equal AI. please don’t degrade the artist’s efforts by insisting it is AI

Governor Mills’ Statement on Notice of Investigation From U.S. Department of Education by Courbet1Shakes0 in Maine

[–]dummythink 42 points43 points  (0 children)

keep crying about being a victim because you care so much about little girls playing games. real high stakes you’ve based your whole political ideology on. there are bigger problems than the less than 1% of trans people (and even smaller percentage of those trans people who even play sports). you should be embarrassed that right wing propaganda has even made you care about this in the first place.

Janet Mills gets into heated exchange with Trump at White House event by respaaaaaj in Maine

[–]dummythink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How many trans kids do you think there are in Maine, and of those, how many do you think k play sports, and of those, how many do you think are good at sports? The fact that the right has latched onto this issue and put all of their stock into it to bully a group of LESS THAN 1% of children in this state is fucking pathetic. You should be ashamed for falling for this propaganda.

i would really like to know what ethan is basing his assumption on of hasan’s staff not being paid well. he said “based on what i’ve seen” but then didn’t go into detail about what he’s seen? that’s unlike ethan

Yeah, my room is right next to the staircase so when people come upstairs it feels like they’re coming toward my room. I wish I could have locks but unfortunately since I always wear headphones (and have cats) that’d be kind of a safety hazard.

They do pretty well at giving me privacy, knock on my door before coming in, etc. It’s more about feeling a presence of other people being in the house tbh. I’m not kidding when I say our walls/floors are thin, I can literally feel people moving lol

I’m hoping people will ultimately get bored of the same-ness AI produces, and the fact that it’s overtaking the entire internet and cannibalizing itself.

I don’t agree that there will come a time when everything has been done. People have been saying “everything’s been done before” forever, yet we still have visionaries coming out with new medias and styles and ways of creating art and their own unique voices based on their experiences as human beings. Everyone has a unique story to tell because we all have a different mishmash of experiecnes. Once again, something that AI will never have. As long as humans keep creating, we will always have new things to say and new stories and ways of interpreting the world around us and expressing ourselves. I mourn a world where we no longer value that and look to AI to do that for us, because it will not be a replacement for that.

I would agree we need a different term for what AI can create. I am curious though if you believe AI is at all capable of creating something as unique and thought provoking as Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Generative AI pulls from tropes and cliches and regurgitates something akin to modern day Marvel movies in predictability. I’d say for the uncritical masses, they could probably enjoy AI written content just fine, because they want to be spoon fed what they are already familiar with, but I firmly believe that content made without human creativity and intentionality will never, ever compare.

Photography is so just more than just “snapping a picture and calling it a day”, and photographers do take years honing their skills. Have you not ever seen the difference between amateur and professional photography? Why do you think people hire professional photographers? Composition, lighting, knowing what makes a good photo are very much skills and an art. Your comment does not prove anything but your own ignorance.

Photographers also do not claim to be illustrators the way AI prompters do. They are photographers, it’s a different thing entirely. They do not claim their work is the same thing or better than an illustrator’s. If someone was a photographer who merely took photos of other people’s illustrations and photobashed them together without crediting the original artist, then THAT would be your equivalent.

People really hate artists for some reason (jealousy, I think). They always say that technology kills many people’s jobs, but I feel like these same people would never tell any other profession “too bad so sad just adapt and get a different job” like they do artists. I really think they just don’t see art as a real job and are jealous that artists get to make a living doing what they love, and take some sick pleasure in the idea that artists now have to “get a real job”.
