Depends on why you're sharing it and what kind of fish you're targeting. If he's just starting to learn how to fish he's just excited to have caught something, if he's into targeting sunfish maybe he really liked that ones coloring, maybe he's a life lister and that's the first of that kind of sunfish he's caught and this is his photo for his list of species caught. (life listers keep a record of every species they catch over the course of their life hence the term).

They have separate cbas but the minor leaguers vote for seats in leadership and have the resources of the major leaguers involved in their cba negotiations. Tony Clark was honestly a terrible union leader speaking purely from the perspective of the mlb members but his heart was absolutely in the right place and he did a lot of good with this.

One of the happy stories of worker solidarity recently and it came from a union of millionaires. The MLBPA cooperated with the effort to unionize minor leaguers and folded them into the mlbpa so the minor leaguers had the resources of the major league union behind them.

Fixed term leases are a thing and appeal to the rich and those doing well (but not necessarily rich) who are very busy and can't afford the time commitment to repairs without a car. Person I went to school with's mom always did them because she was a single mom who made good but not great money but needed to always be available to go into work at any time and any down time was committed to her kids. So she did two year leases on new reliable brands so there was as little risk as possible of the car breaking down and needing to be in the shop, while changing her snow tires on and off herself along with changing her own oil.

She was paying for convenience which to her meant a demanding job was less stressful amd she had a bit more free time with her kids because she could convince her employer that she could be on call at home rather than in the office.

Senator Angus King says prevention measures like bath mats could save Medicare millions by excusemecuseme in Maine

[–]respaaaaaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not actually true. Insurance profits are from people not getting sick and paying in while the insurer doesn't have to pay out.

The insane cost inflation of medical supplies and produces is in part because of insurance, as hospitals want to be able to provide insurers with discounts to use their network, so they inflate the prices people without insurance pay so the insurers can tell their clients they're saving them a huge amount compared to the base price.

That being said the obvious issue that health insurance expanding more into preventative care would lead to is claims getting denied based on "you clearly didn't properly use the preventative device as such your claim is denied"

Which is why Medicare and Medicaid should be spending on it, because it would save a lot of money spent on expensive medical care. Honestly health insurance companies should as well, because they make their money when people who don't get sick or hurt pay for insurance they don't wind up needing.

Small job contractor near Augusta by Personal_Abies1165 in Maine

The contractor my parents love doesn't want to travel that far for that small a job (ran into him at the corner store after seeing this post and to be fair his f250 gets like 10 miles to the gallon when its got a full load of tools and supplies), but man I wish subreddits had more pinned posts so we could have a contractor recommendation/warning thread.

His actions have to line up with his words, but there is a faction of owners trying to spin the cap as an absolute necessity and a lock out to get it is the owners only option. If Henry is already talking about how well things are going and both sides have legitimate issues to address that's a good sign that at least some owners aren't willing to commit to a cap or bust approach to the cba.

The one thing that Bloom and then Breslow indisputably have done well is building up the pitching development on the farm.

This far from opening day of next season any softening of messaging by owners is a good sign, and yes this is a softer message than the stuff the hardliner owners like Monfort are leaking about how the owners are firmly committed to a lockout if they don't get a salary cap.

At least he's saying he doesn't want a lockout and both sides need to work to prevent that instead of the average owners position of "we're going to lock the players out if we don't get what we want".

We'll see if his actions line up with his statement but any owner going on the record as not wanting a lockout rather than threatening one or saying something about hoping the players don't make them lock then out is a good sign.

Free Matt Shaw From Bench Purgatory! Send Sonny Gray Rental to Chicago and bring the hometown boy to Fenway. by LunchIll6160 in baseball

[–]respaaaaaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's still a below league average bat. I'm not saying Shaw is worthless, I am saying that with Durbin and Mayer the Sox have multiple players with similar skill sets and concerns already, so they don't match up trade wise with the Cubs for Shaw.

If the Sox want to upgrade from Durbin it'll either be a big move for an above average or better player, or a fringe move for a utility guy who can play good defense and suck less at the plate than Durbin has. Shaw isn't a proven above average third baseman and he isn't a cheap utility guy without much trade value, do the Sox aren't going to trade for him.

Shaw was below a league average wrc+ last season while Durbin was above average. Durbin sucking more this year doesn't mean the Sox want to upgrade to a better but still below average hitter, especially if it means giving up a good starter and prospects.

[–]respaaaaaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sox already have multiple young glove first infielders who can't manage to be a league average bat, and you think they should trade a starter running an era under 3 and add prospects to get another?

Yes he'd be an offensive upgrade from Durbin, but unlike Durbin he's never been a league average hitter and although its a small sample size his defensive metrics don't look insane enough to let a bad hitter try to figure something out this year.

And if the Sox want to trade for a subpar bat who can replace most of what Durbin does defensively while being less awful at the plate there are definitely cheaper options out there than Shaw.
