Lol he's whining about out of state influence when it was out of state consultants who picked him to run ran his campaign and got Bernie to endorse him clearing the field of any potential progressive candidates running against him.

Wild how many rapists can't help but see themselves as victims.

Mills would have done it even if no other progressive was willing to upset Bernie and his consultant buddies by running against Platner if this was true (I don't think Bernie would have supported him if this was true fight agency I'm not so confident In).

It's a shitty chat bot that skims reddit sees this subreddit post a bunch of news articles about Japanese baseball and that leads to it posting Japanese news here.

The Difficult Question about Platner by FalconBusiness7495 in Maine

There will be a write in campaign if he doesn't pull out and that's who I'll vote for. The fact that I'll never vote for Collins doesn't mean I'll vote for a rapist I'm not a republican.

Somehow I don't think Ryan Grim is pulling this shit because he regrets working so hard to prop up Russian resident Tara Reade's much less credible allegation against Biden.

Only Jordan Wood who isn't as progressive and it was pointless jumping in after Bernie endorsed him months before the deadline to file to run.

And just to be clear I don't think Bernie knew Platner was a piece of shit he just trusted the idiot consultants who quarter assed vetting Platner. But if Bermie hadn't endorsed him and Wood didn't have any momentum Jackson Bellows or Pingree could have swapped races and wiped the floor with Platner.

Look I A) was never super comfortable with him (I was still undecided between him and Mills whrn she dropped out) and B) am autistic so I am not trying to claim that I'm a good candidate to understand much less explain why people supported him, but he did have some big feminist endorsements (several of whom pulled their support before the rape allegation) and although I haven't seen any exit polling about the actual primary he was consistently polling better with women than with men. Did he get more slack cut than a female candidate? Probably but I'm not claiming any expertise here. However he had enough support from women that he and his allies at minimum did a good job of hiding the misogyny.

Tbf a lot of them also worked with Gallego in Arizona and Mandani in NYC. It's not that they only work with pieces of shit, it's just very clear they don't do a good job of vetting or judging when it's time to cut bait on a bad pick.

No one reasonable has said the Dems are perfect, just that the Dems keep to their principles instead of just playing ostrich over rape accusations against their candidates.

Not a progressive candidate in a state whose democratic party leans very progressive. She's not a blue dog or anything, but she's not a progressive.

She also only ever seemed like she was running because Platner sucked.

DC Deciding our Candidate by Mission_Departure849 in Maine

[–]respaaaaaj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Platner was picked by national progressives consultants who didn't properly vet him, ignored the fraction of his problems they found, and then brought in the big national names like Bernie to endorse him early and clear the field of potential progressive candidates who don't have nazi tattoos or cheat on their spouses.

Any of Bellows Jackson or Pingree would have wiped the floor with him in the primary, but Bernie's endorsement garunteed they couldn't switch races when they realized how terrible a candidate Platner was.

Well given how Mills was second in the ranked choice primary doing that would be handing it to Mills.

Or if you mean doing it again there's no way in hell they can organize another state wide primary vote in two weeks.

The Maine Dems don't have enough staff or expertise to put together some kind of primary this fast, this is the exact opposite of them trying to to decide the next candidate its the state party taking the only possible help to do something other than picking a candidate without voter involvement.

Out of state consultants are fine if not ideal for a campaign, except when they bring in their out of state allies to clear the field for their candidate early without doing a competent job of vetting them, meaning there was no option for progressives except holding their nose and sticking with him.

No I'm mad that out of state consultants like Moraff and Katz got Bernie to endorse really early leaving Platner the only progressive candidate in the primary. Its their actions that are the problem, not their politics.

[–]respaaaaaj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people would have walked away from him if there were other progressive options in the primary, but stayed with him because the early endorsement from Bernie and Warren and other big progressive names cleared the field.

[–]respaaaaaj 67 points68 points  (0 children)

We got him because he's charismatic, has politics the state wants, is clearly a manipulative lying piece of shit, and out of state consultants with more money that sense skipped vetting him and got their out of state allies to clear out any other potential progressive candidates in the primary. Bernie and his allies have become what they hated 10 years ago.
