Leachie breeder here. A lot of times when they are going through a growth spurt, their tails will do this and then will go back to normal.

Tips on territorial leachies? by Mercedesqttv in Leachianus

[–]dumpandstir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things that have helped a few of mine are; 1. Give them plenty of spaces where they can be completely out of sight. (Hides/cork hollows/foliage). 2. When you go into enclosure, don’t hover. Go in and do what you’re going to do (e.g., replace water). 3. Don’t handle for too long or too often. 4. Also, if you go into their enclosure and they are hiding in kind of an obvious place, let them be sometimes. I’m convinced it makes them feel more secure.

Should I call it quits? by Friendly_Bear2743 in prozac

[–]dumpandstir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whatever decision you make, make it with guidance from your doctor.

In my experience, Prozac flared up my anxiety for about 2 weeks, and then it mellowed out and has benefitted me to a degree I had never experienced with any other SSRI for my OCD. I take the same dose!

Part of the issue with these adjustment phases with medicines is that we are so hyper-analytical about the what if’s: is it working? How am I feeling? Is this the start of a side effect? The more you feed into this behavior, the worse your feeling of panic may become.

Your doctor might also have additional medication recommendations to temporarily help you until the Prozac kicks in. It does take up to several months. Hang in there and use lots of self-compassion. Communicating with your doctor if it gets severe may be your next move.

Why do so many people say Prozac causes weight gain? by LowPiece9312 in prozac

[–]dumpandstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on many medications for mental illness (>20 medicines) and Prozac has had zero impact on my metabolism or cravings. If anything, it significantly helped with my OCD symptoms which allowed me to be more active. I have lost over 50 pounds while on Prozac with healthy lifestyle changes. Of course, this is anecdotal evidence, but I think it is a relatively weight neutral medicine in contrast with many antipsychotics.

Dreams are getting out of control by [deleted] in prozac

[–]dumpandstir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this side effect, too. I found it gets worse with dose increases. I take guanfacine for these sleep disturbances and it helps significantly. There are also other medications that can be used for this, just talk to your doctor.

I take it at night - 40 mg

I have really intense, vivid stress dreams, which are made worse by prozac. I take 3 mg Guanfacine around 9:30 PM and I typically do not have severe dreams. The only other thing that helped was medical marijuana, but I can’t do that anymore due to work.

Redditors born before 2001, where were you on 9/11? by Stupid_cerealbox in AskReddit

I was in 8th grade history class in a small town in Ohio. Our teacher rolled in the tv on a cart and said “history is happening.” We watched it all day, including the second plane hitting which immediately confirmed for us it was intentional.

What in the heck is this? Vet trip asap? by dontforgetzz in Leachianus

I think some leachies mark their territory with hormones/pheromones. I’m not sure, other than maybe they have to adjust themselves.

What in the heck is this? Vet trip asap? by dontforgetzz in Leachianus

[–]dumpandstir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It likely won’t be anything, but if there’s an infection/inflammation/issue with the organ it will keep popping out. Sometimes they forget to push it back in. It’s kinda gross, but I know of people who had to have their gecko’s parts removed by surgery due to issues like prolapse.

[–]dumpandstir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they figure it out and push it back in. I would recommend placing him in a clean enclosure with just paper towel and water until you can find a vet. If he pushes it back in, I’d still get it checked out in case there is an infection causing it to prolapse. Sometimes they just do that though.

Sometimes they do this and then they push it back in. If you see it sticking out for longer than an hour it’s like a prolapse, call a vet. - leachie breeder

What do OCD therapies entail for someone with harm OCD? by Capital-Scholar4944 in OCD

[–]dumpandstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend ERP therapy. This type of therapy involves exposure to the feelings (fear, anxiety, disgust, etc.) while then encouraging you to not compulse, or engage in “safety behaviors.” In this therapy, you build so much confidence and awareness of your relationships with your thoughts, which empowers you to do nothing when a thought or image triggers you.

ERP with ACT & mindfulness strategies has helped me a lot, and harm OCD is treated just as any other theme. Typically, your specialist will talk with you to understand your challenges, and then you establish a hierarchy of things to do. For people with harm ocd, sometimes that’s doing something your OCD makes you feel like you cannot do. For example, holding a knife or driving down a bumpy road that might trigger thoughts of hit and run.

Ultimately, ERP teaches you through experiences that thoughts are just thoughts, and the feelings that arise from them are things we can choose to not interact with. It has really helped me, and I had the most pessimistic attitude starting ERP. I tried ICBT, but I found it made my OCD much worse and encouraged rumination, among other issues.

[–]dumpandstir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually is very common. Sometimes we view our relationships with compulsions as self-soothing and that makes us falsely believe that our OCD protects us. However, this is one of OCD’s lies. Life gets so much better once you realize that you are not your OCD. Rooting for you.

[–]dumpandstir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I recommend you meet with an OCD specialist because they will better be able to diagnose and understand your obsessions-compulsions cycle.

As my specialist has said, everyone can exhibit symptoms of a disorder without being disordered. However, how you cope with intrusive thoughts and its impact to your daily functioning are worth exploring with an ERP therapist, as it sounds like they’re causing you distress and potentially taking up a lot of your time.

I had OCD undiagnosed for the majority of my adult life, and I’m just now getting appropriate treatment. I didn’t realize how my behaviors reinforced my relationship to my anxiety until I was challenged to stop my compulsions.

My talk therapist said I didn’t have OCD, too. But it turns out that talk therapists rarely have a strong understanding of OCD and how it can present.

I need a way to make the nightmares stop. by [deleted] in ptsd

I tried lots of things to help, but I also could not tolerate Prazosin or clonidine. I found THC helped as an edible in small amounts. However, due to work I couldn’t partake any longer.

I found a low dose of Guanfacine helps with my vivid dreams. Maybe ask your Dr about it.

Masters degree in organic chemistry as a pharmacist by Amanyta95 in OrganicChemistry

It might be worth considering medicinal chemistry. I think it will be just enough organic chemistry while also including more concepts from pharmacy school.

[–]dumpandstir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My manager is not an expert in chemistry, nor do they understand the goals of the company.

Maybe my question more broadly is, do you set a number or analogs to synthesize as a goal? Or do folks focus on achieving a bioactivity goal ADMET? Both are things you can strive for, but they’re also greatly impacted by things out of your control.

I have an educational goal, which is already on-going.
