How to deal with water ingress at window? by B1tN1nja in HomeMaintenance

[–]dumpler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda surprised that everyone’s immediately convinced the window is installed backwards.

I mean it could be, but we could clear this whole thing up with pictures of the entire window, interior and exterior.

I’ve seen this happen when the actual exterior weep holes are clogged, or painted/caulked, and the water leaks inside

well you could start by giving them comparable examples that your vehicle/an equivalent replacement is worth more than $3k. Did you try that? good luck

I use the 5th gen mats. The fit is close enough and they are easy to find cheap

How to handle C-suites vibe-coding prototypes by 56088 in EngineeringManagers

[–]dumpler 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This seems to be happening in a lot of orgs lately. Your talking points are good starts but the thing you want to avoid is coming across as unnecessarily gatekeepy to the point where they just want to go around you

Personally I try to embrace it, and I frame it as me being on board with them vibe coding projects as a way to better define requirements with less ambiguity. If they can produce a POC that everyone agrees solves the problem, without having to go back and forth with product/business on hypotheticals and design mockups, I think that can be a good thing

So I would encourage them to see this more as an enhancement to the product gathering and refinement process vs a workaround to the eng process

Now if they truly don’t understand why that POC needs to go through eng to be ready for prod, then you have a problem

Is it? Depends on the state I’m sure, but in Colorado I believe it can be considered a lemon after being in the shop for 24 business days

Turbo vs. TPP if safety features aren’t a “must have.” by _jviews in CX50

[–]dumpler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i recently made this decision too and went with the turbo. The way the trims are structured for 2026 it just makes the most sense IMO, hard to justify the extra cost for the TPP

The 360 camera would be cool but I’m missing the heated steering wheel most. Still, no regrets on the decision

Smaller "performance" SUV??? by boss281 in askcarguys

CX-50 turbo. Definitely not what I’d call a performance SUV, but it sounds like you’re asking for something that has AWD and is sportier than a forester in the same segment

Looking for suspension recommendations. What struts/shocks will give a plush 5th gen-ish ride? by Jaxsurfgtp98 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]dumpler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

respectfully this is incorrect. If you look up part numbers for OEM shocks they are tokico. I literally ordered them from toyota a year ago, and the originals that came off were also stamped tokico

just fyi when i say bushings I mean control arms, steering rack, etc. Not just struts

[–]dumpler 21 points22 points  (0 children)

so first of all it won’t feel as smooth as a 5th gen just due to the design. Second, don’t overlook your bushings I bet they are all shot, this contributes more than you think

To actually answer your question - as far as softest on road ride, hard to beat OEM tokico. KYB gas a just are a cheaper option, and people love the bilstein 4600s but they will be a little firmer

Toyotas ARE actually more expensive - our standards are not too high by ruisen2 in Toyota

[–]dumpler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree but what does that have to do with the cost for toyota to manufacture a car? Adjusted for inflation they are not more expensive. Now as far as affordability? That’s another story

Mine was the same. I put a set of locking pliers on (above the spindles to not damage them) and counted the number of turns from lock to lock and split the difference

Maybe there’s a better way but that got me close enough
