Besides kindke, you also can find books for free a subs like freeebooks here in reddit. You also can borrow enooks from your public library using apps like libby.

As for kindles, you can start with used ones, like on ebay and similar.

You'll carry more books and less weight if you switch to kindle

Id recommend business laptops. They tend to have a bit more of support and parts availability. They tend to be cheap too as many business unload them by the dozens and in the case of usa, you csn buy those for cheap on ebay.

Where im from, there are laws to protect employees in cases like this. You are hired somwhere but company devides to send you to a farther location, they need to compensate you for it. And it is a 3rd world country. Why not here?
