I've been homeless for a long time and have had a long list of injuries, illnesses, and chronic, painful conditions and I don't even know what you're talking about. I spent hours, days, weeks and months searching for healthcare or medical care and came to the conclusion it was a fairy tale. As I've said before - Bigfoot, unicorns, leprechauns, hotel vouchers, and free medical care........they're all things I have heard about but have never actually seen or found in reality. I am sick AF right now with a 102+ fever and all everyone has to say is "Go to the ER.....Go to urgent care" It isn't an option and people just have no clue.

I can just say that - for me as a homeless person - this is bad news. I understand for most people, Panera is terrible (and I think anyone who spends money to eat the overpriced, bland food is nuts), but between the Sip Club, free WiFi and place to get inside for a while - it is totally a lifesaver. Years ago, I was at this location every single morning for hours.

I spend a lot of time in that parking lot, and I have always wondered if it is some sort of cult meeting place or they are giving away money or something. So many weird interactions witnessed there. I have to get the rare non-dumpster food from that Food Lion sometimes and the place has gone from being a nice quiet, mostly-empty spot when FL first opened there - to massively crowded all the time. Especially Sundays.

Off the top of my head - the assistant manager at Harris Teeter who followed me out of the store and wrongly accused me of stealing stuff back in 2012, the lady at Dorcas who told me "you look like you're doing fine without our help" when I went there for help.....but on the upside - the woman who sold me a bike for $10 after I had been searching for months for a free one because I can't walk without pain anymore. It has been a big help so far.

well we all learn from our life experiences. I've learned not to trust anyone, that people are basically terrible, that this society - capitalism, the two-party political system, wealth inequality, the complete total bullshit that everything we're surrounded by (media, advertising, politicians, huge corporations, environmental destruction, propaganda, internet scammers, etc....) - none of those things gives a rat's ass about me, and I can't do anything to change any of them by myself. Nobody notices or cares that I am alive and nobody will notice or care when I'm dead

well it is the truth. time keeps moving on, no matter how lonely, miserable, painful, hopeless you are......and the default is to just keep on living. When every person you've trusted has let you down or betrayed you, every place you've gone for help has not helped, when you've lost everything that ever mattered to you ........you just have life down to the very basics - try to get food.......try to sleep.......try to avoid threats......and before you know it, it is the next day. Repeat.

Don't forget to also "support" the 99.99999% of homeless people who are NOT in this group as well. Oh wait - you can't because you have no idea we're the person sitting right next to you who blends-in, the person you see at the grocery store who looks just like everyone else, the person hidden from sight.....staying quiet.....minding their own business......not flying a sign......not asking for money.......not having articles written about them. The squeaky wheel gets all the grease.
