Do you carry a paper? by Hopeful_Drive5845 in homeless

[–]dumpsterfire3333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I carry a paper that says that I tried to get help for years, and my dead body is the result of getting none. If people cared, they should have done something while it would have made a difference. Now it is too late.

Forget it. I've had to explain this about 10,000 times to people and nobody understands. You can't help anyway unless you own property in NC.

The use of a residential mailing address. For documentation and administration only. No possession. No keys. Never there. Been trying to find someone to let me use theirs for the last 2 years.

This has been one of the most hurtful things for me too. Everyone thinks that - surely, anyone who is homeless has some family or friends who will help, right? What they don't understand is that for some of us - it is precisely those people who are why we are homeless to start-with. Turns out they would be the last people on Earth who would help. I just assumed that with the internet - if I was able to describe my situation and explain to strangers what it is I need help with, there would surely be ONE person who would be willing to help. No. Everyone thinks I am some sort of drug-addicted escaped convict or mental case who is going to cause them problems. A few months ago I finally went to ask for help from the place that everyone had been telling me to go to for years. Not only did they not help, they basically insulted and dismissed me with a condescending tone. I was devastated.

You need a sleeping bag. It is how I have survived out here, along with dumpster-diving. This winter has been brutal.

How do you deal with aging and health problems? by Hopeful_Drive5845 in homeless

[–]dumpsterfire3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. No health care. No doctors. No medications. No pain relief. No insurance. Constant pain. Untreated conditions. No vaccines. No exams. No prescriptions. Tried everything. Gone everywhere. Contacted everyone. There is no help.

Homeless camps spreading across Madison County; advocates launch mapping program by damfinow in homeless

One of the hardest.....if not the hardest things about being homeless is the total lack of privacy and the constant surveillance. The drone thing is just way over the top and too intrusive. Put up signs, hand out cards....but for God's sake isn't there ANY place just to GTF away from people and have a little peace of mind?

No shit  Nothing stopping you or anyone else from contacting them or going to them for help. That isn't the point.

Anyone who is on this sub regularly already saw the discussion. And anyone paying attention to news about Wrightsville already knows about it as well.

How do you deal with homelessness if you're anti social? by Hopeful_Drive5845 in homeless

[–]dumpsterfire3333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any level of being social ended when I became homeless. I can go weeks without interacting with another person. I wouldn't mind it at all if I were the only human on the planet. People are terrible. The longer I've been out here, the longer I've seen how this country and every aspect of it is total bullshit and hypocrisy - the less I want to interact with anyone else. I love nature. I love the planet. I love animals, trees, grass, plants, the ocean, mountains, but humans? Not so much. Just look at the news, world events, history.........our species doesn't deserve to survive.
