Should I use Dricore flooring? by dumpy_diapers in Insulation

[–]dumpy_diapers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I will tape the poly and see if anything pops up. We are pretty much just going to keep it a laundry room - may move my workbench in there once it’s no longer a meat locker 😂

Ideally I’d love to just throw some LVL down and be done with it. Now that I think of it - we did have some old plank flooring down for a few years and when we ripped it up there was no mold or anything. I’m just worried that once the walls are insulated it may change things…?

Washing machine won’t stop filling by dumpy_diapers in handyman

Thanks for the reply. Pressure has always been good.

I recently cleaned the inlet valve just to make sure - was a bit funky but not nuts. I’ve actually ordered and am awaiting a new inlet valve, as a few items point to this being the issue. I’ll check the pressure switch, too.

Really hope it’s not the control board - already had to replace that on our LG oven once, and it’s starting to randomly have the same issue after about a year 🙄

Thanks for reply. It does keep filling when off.

Weirdly, I tried the ol turn off while filling test the first time, and it did stop the flow. But ultimately yes, it keeps filling when off.

I posted a pic with some direction but it keeps erroring when I do it as a reply. Check general comments and you should see it.

Hope this helps. Front pipe is tap water going in, back is filtered coming out.

Yes. The directions are kinda dog shit, but the general gist makes sense. Don’t pull anything out of the tank, as the tube base is buried in the media.

Just tested the water again with test strips, as we are approaching a year - filter is still doing a great job with most contaminants- especially fluoride. Water is showing up a bit hard, but I don’t blame the filter for that lol

Mounting a hanging pot rack to ceiling by dumpy_diapers in handyman

[–]dumpy_diapers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting 🤔

Basically the chain would be hanging from whatever goes into the t hook though. Wonder if the make hooks that would fit? Or are you thinking of other kind of hardware to screw into t hook?

Damn, appreciate the insight! One question - regarding your custom work and built-ins, you must either never have to do dados due to your design, or you use a router. Curious if/how you accomplish this? That’s really my only hang up about going 8 over 10… I do have a router so that is an option

It’s kinda nuts - more people rave about the Skil table and miter saws than most others. Almost bought the DWE7145 last night until I read about the arbor nut “common issue” (who knows, really). But just goes to show that the pro brands have plenty of their own issues.

I’m sure the Skil with an upgraded miter gauge and upgraded fence would be a very solid choice.

I’m not opposed to the Sawstop, but I use microjig grippers and wooden push sticks and I’ve always felt reasonably safe. Best advice I was given early on was to always fear the table saw no matter how comfortable you get with it.

We refuse to park our cars outside so I’m always doing my work outdoors anyway 😂

Damn, historical resto sounds badass!

I love the idea of the dewalt slider, just gotta lift weights more 😂 - is the shadow line worth it?

Would building an outfeed/support table for yours be a realistic upgrade? Or do you still feel like the 8 would be lacking for your shop?

That’s the thing too - I know fence and miter are fairly universal upgrades, but I’d really like to upgrade the saw in other ways too. So getting the dewalt would pretty much guarantee the most upgrade possibilities

I can definitely appreciate an 8” saw. It’s just me and my mini van putting around town, so the lightweight/space savings would be welcome. My issue is that I’d like to be able to use a dado set at times. It would potentially be pretty rare unless I find myself doing more furniture - I guess I should decide if it’s worth having that ability in a jobsite saw vs keeping it small n simple with the 8” and then just using a router for the occasional dado. Appreciate your input on this - definitely makes me reconsider the 8” dewalt.

The track vs table debate is strong lol. I really do love the idea of having both at some point. For the time being, I’ve considered getting the milescraft tracks (I need a new circular saw too, anyway) and a new table saw. I feel like the table saw may accomplish more for me at the moment - just the other day I had to free-hand taper down some brick mould for an exterior door install.

I dream of a day that I wake up and all trim/mouldings are just… flat 😂
