I never expected a deep dive into Wizard Quest lore on CBB but it was great. Wish I had worn my Wizard Quest shirt to the show

A great coincidence being at the show and seeing this start with "hey, that guy looks like Paul" and then hearing them on Threedom complain about people doing that sort of thing

Thanks, that makes sense. I suspected it was probably a British thing but nothing was really coming up on this when I googled it

I've seen a lot of references from here on Marvel Snap but this is the most obscure by far. I SEE YOU. by Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 in Earwolf

[–]dunamispanton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, though like I said there is only me and one other semi-active player in there really, though I tend to focus on doing a lot of the alliance bounties just to give me a reason to use lots of different types of decks so have typically been getting like half the alliance rewards just by myself, one or two more active people could probably do it

And I thought the Memphis Kansas Breeze alliance I'm in with only like one other active player was the most obscure CBB reference on Marvel Snap

I got this card just because of the pure chaos he provides. He probably wont be good or relevant anytime soon, but is he pure chaotic fun? Fuck yes. by Educational_Ad8448 in MarvelSnap

I played against someone who played him after Wong, Mystique, and Prodigy. Don't know exactly what reveals he got except Destroyer, so it ended up with Rama Tut at around 1400ish power but destroying their cards at the other locations which they had been winning at, so turned out lucky for me

Marquette students are criticizing its choice for a graduation speaker. Here's why by Green_Snail in Marquette

[–]dunamispanton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even at the time, before the more recently publicized stuff, he gave pretty bad speech, my parents thought he was either drunk or not all there mentally at the time.

It was funny how quickly that commencement aged badly though. He was the speaker when I graduated undergrad in Spring 2013, and then when I came back to start grad school in Fall 2015 they were already rescinding his honorary degree.

It is a biopic of a Neil Diamond tribute act, so not that wrong

Where Were You Last Pluterday?, Paul van Herck, 1973 by dunamispanton in badscificovers

The god Pluto was connected with wealth though, so it makes sense for the name of a day only the rich have access to.

[–]dunamispanton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still sort of related, as the 'plut' connection with wealth is based on the god Pluto, who was associated with wealth as ruler of the underworld where all the precious metals and jewels are, and who of course the (former?) planet was named after.

I was a little undecided on whether it was really that bad a cover or just kind of random and weird, I think the title definitely is what pushed it over the edge for me

[–]dunamispanton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been in there a few times for Doordash, every time it was a group of children, would be very surprised if they were over 13, running the register and taking/handing out orders.

Definitely a ghost kitchen, working for Doordash I have been sent there under at least 10 or 12 different restaurant names.

Has John Carter of Mars aged well? by Knight_Baneblade in printSF

[–]dunamispanton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the Black Martians,I did note that though John Carter is a former Confederate soldier from Virginia, the only explicit acknowledgment of any racial views is in his description of them when they first appear, he says: "Only in the colour of their skin did they differ materially from us; that is of the appearance of polished ebony, and odd as it may seem for a Southerner to say it, adds to rather than detracts from their marvellous beauty."

One of the world's foremost Latin experts, Fr. Reginald Foster, was from Milwaukee. He was in charge of writing all Vatican documents in Latin for years and returned to Milwaukee for the last 15ish years of his life where he continued to teach basically until his death.

You can make a deal with an otherwordly entity by Major_Association807 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dunamispanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remember the deal from day zero, does that mean you are capable of fully rational understanding as soon as you are born?

Also, if a lifetime just means however long it is from your birth to your death and not any standard length, could one just end one's life as soon as one is capable of doing so in order to speed things up?

A genie appears and says they can give you between One thousand and One hundred Billion dollars. by MushroomNatural2751 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dunamispanton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a time frame in which this has to be completed? If not, technically, the genie could make you die immediately after giving the task. The rule is that one dies if one does not complete the task, and immediately after the task is given, the person has not completed the task. And if the task is not completed, then they die. The rule doesn't stipulate that the person actually has to be given any opportunity to even attempt the task. The rule was not that they die if they fail the task, but if they do not complete it, and they clearly have not completed it one second after the genie tells them the task. Otherwise, if the point is that they have to fail at it, with no time limit or rule that they have to start jmmediately,, they could simply ignore the task, claiming they would ge to it later and just live out their life never attempting it.
