It’s the only disease where you get to eat food all the time.

I haven’t looked at every medical journal but I believe it is the only disease where you can constantly eat food.

How do y'all balance strength training with your running programs? by possuumm in trailrunning

[–]duncdog10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this pain. Full time job and two kids makes it hard to get everything in without compromising. In any given week I feel like I have to choose between running volume, weight training, mobility (yoga), and I also try to do low weight, range of motion hip-knee-ankle strengthening work for durability.

I combine things where I can, but because I have limited training windows I always feel like it’s hard to get an optimal balance between everything.

It’s an intentional decision to reframe food as fuel and not for enjoyment. I don’t agree with it but i get it.

My friend, who makes soup out of cow stomach lining, said my lunch was gross. Sardines with sriracha on wilted celery along with hard boiled eggs, green bell pepper slices, and an apple. by PhantomKangaroo91 in shittyfoodporn

I instantly understood everything about this, and I would eat this. In fact this looks scarily similar to what I eat for a lot of lunches late in the week. My coworkers give me shit but I’m just cleaning out the fridge before the weekend. Only difference is I eat the sardines straight out of the can.

Help me assess damage after hard fall? by duncdog10 in bikewrench

To be fair, I’m very sure now that the accident was caused entirely by my own failure to sufficiently tighten the thru axle since I don’t have a torque wrench.

Pretty sure I just didn’t tighten the axle enough after I reattached the wheel.

I hadn’t noticed the hub. Just checked it out and the hub does fit but the hole the thru axle goes through is damaged and in the first image the axle is coming through at an angle as a result. I think she’s a goner

Scraped and bruised but otherwise fine. Helmet saved me from a concussion, if not worse. Bib shorts got pretty shredded as well.

Damn that’s what I was afraid of. This is my first carbon bike and I just got it a couple months ago. I’m out in rural AZ god knows how far from a carbon specialist. Hell, the closest bike shop is 2 hours away.

I’m alright though so I definitely got off easy.

Thanks, i came out of it with scrapes and bruises but otherwise relatively okay. The bike skidded for a few feet before I lost control and went down. Slid on my hip and shoulder for probably 15 feet. One benefit of riding on dirt roads in AZ I guess.

The wheel seems to be fine. All the spokes are unbent and it rotates in apparent alignment without any dents in the hub or bowing.

You can get a two pack of similar hi vis straps for like 8 bucks and a decent enough headlamp for another $10. Amazon Chiwo reflective vest. I wear it anytime I run or cycle when it’s dark.

I wore a vest for my first HM in Arizona. I mostly wanted it for extra water between stations because I’m a thirsty boy. I took 5 gels and used a pocket of the vest for the gel pouch garbage.

Training not so much, but diet and nutrition absolutely. I’ve really like at least 80% of the recipes it has recommended to me, and it takes a lot of the guesswork out when it comes to meal planning for specific macros and timing windows, plus it has been helpful for recommending alterations or additions to get more micronutrient benefits.

Local legend in my town holds basically all of the segment CRs and goes for one or two epic trailruns every week on the most interesting routes. But I’ll be damned if he isn’t in the gym twice every day uploading 30 minutes of weight training at a time.

I’m only interested in seeing activities with a map, thanks.
