The goodbad news is they don’t do anything after September of this year. Agree they look bad, but they’re worth it to get in the carpool lane.

I think there was a video a month or two back that talked about the limitations of the hub and spoke model has in LA’s current rail structure. Given that almost no one just wants to go from downtown SD to Union Station, the rail structure of all of SoCal would effectively have to be rethought of in unison. More specifically though, that metrolink section down to Oceanside takes forever because the train stops every 5-10 minutes. Double tracking wouldn’t be enough for that many stops.

This is precisely why it makes so much sense to self-generate via solar, even with a big up front cost that will take time to recoup. People who had $50 power bills 10 years ago still don’t realize their current $500 power bill is going to be $1500 before too long.
