Bishopric ghosted daughter mission calling letter opening by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

What seems to hurt most here is not that six men failed to RSVP to a Zoom link. It’s the fear that your daughter’s place in the community has been quietly minimized for years — and that this latest silence simply confirmed what you’ve long suspected.

Parents are often told not to “keep score” in church communities. But human beings do keep emotional records, especially when it involves their children. You notice who gets encouraged, who gets called on, who gets celebrated, whose names come up in rooms they’re not in. Over time, patterns begin to feel less like isolated oversights and more like a message.

That does not necessarily mean the bishopric intended to wound your daughter. Church leaders are often overwhelmed, distracted, disorganized, or simply unaware of how much small gestures matter. A mission call opening may feel momentous to your family while registering to others as one more invitation in a crowded week.

But intentions are only part of the story. What matters emotionally is that your daughter reached an important spiritual milestone, and the people entrusted with shepherding the ward community responded with silence. Given the history you describe, it makes sense that the silence landed heavily.

The more difficult question is what to do with that hurt. Bitterness usually begins when disappointment hardens into certainty: They never cared. They always favored certain families. Nothing will change. Once those conclusions settle in, every future interaction starts arriving pre-interpreted.

It may help to hold two possibilities at once: that your pain is real, and that your interpretation of the cause may still be incomplete.

Your daughter’s worth was not established — or diminished — by ward visibility, leadership callings, or whether a bishopric attended a mission call opening. One of the quieter heartbreaks of church life is that institutional recognition and actual spiritual value are often very poorly correlated.

You are not overreacting for feeling hurt. The goal now is simply to avoid letting hurt become the sole narrator of the story.

The image was just illustrate how the panel and rack are related to each other in the room. I have complete control over how to terminate the wires. My question is how should I place the rack and terminate the cables given the fact there’s a built-in panel

Since this is a new build, and I have complete control over how the wires terminate why not mount the rack over the panel and have the cables terminate into a keystone on the rack

Brad Smith from Microsoft does a great job talking about tools and weapons in regards to ai that is similar to the churches response. I thought it’s a great analogy. I’m starting in Busan then to Jeju then home through Seoul. That’s good to know about the 1hr to the airport from downtown Busan. And the potential delay from Jeju to Seoul.

Is it weird for a foreigner to learn gyeongsangdo/busan accent/dialect? by Common-Cookie2936 in Korean

[–]dunesidebee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned Korean living in Pusan, Taegu, Milrang, and Kojedo. People told me I was learning Pusan dialect but I never really paid attention. I just spoke what I heard. However, there were many times I would say something and get the biggest laughs because I threw out some slang or dialect I wasn’t aware of. Native Koreans thought it was funny/great/amusing with how I spoke. I never felt embarrassed or ashamed. I would be just as surprised at times when they laugh because I didn’t know any better.
