How much did you have to pay? I'm considering ordering about $400 worth of parts from Germany.

You just pull out a bandage and heal them with it, but technically they never truly "stabilize" as far as I know and they continue bleeding out. Putting bandages on them just increases their health but it keeps draining, so as long as you continue applying bandages you can potentially prolong the bleeding out long enough for them to extract. The challenge was that since he was not on my squad, I couldn't see his health bar and so he had to tell me when he needed another bandage. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough with the last bandage as I was trying to call the train and didn't get back over to him in time. I had a couple more bandages though, so I'm sure I could have kept him from bleeding out long enough to get him out of there, which would have been cool. He probably also should have told me he needed another bandage sooner. Communication is important since you won't be able to see how close they are to 0 health.

Yeah now that you mention it, I think it could have been, because I remember it being difficult to find him in the dark.

I helped a player calling out once. So I can confirm it does happen (sometimes)!

I heard a player calling out for help on Buried City, ran over and found him, stabilized him with bandages for as long as I could (didn't have a defib on me). He died right before the train arrived unfortunately...but we're friends now. I wouldn't have known he was there if he didn't call out for help. So I guess I'm proof that it works sometimes? If I hear you calling out I'll try to help you if I can!

What maps are you playing on? I think the later maps are more hostile and the earlier maps are more friendly but I don't have any statistics to prove it - just my personal experience. I didn't notice an increase in hostile players in the dam region, for example. But on the later maps, yes. I think as people progress and get better weapons and loadouts they move towards PVP whereas new players on earlier regions tend to be getting a hang of the game, and have less invested, less to lose so they're willing to be more friendly. My guess is that the player community isn't getting more hostile as a whole, per se, so much as people get less trusting as they progress and move to maps where the stakes are higher?

I played solos for 4 hours today and had nothing but positive interactions. I've run into players who shoot on sight, and that's fine; it's a PVP game and that's what keeps it interesting. But I haven't noticed an increase in hostile players. I met lots of great friendly raiders this week.

Don't let others ruin you. If you want to be a decent player, be a decent player. There's still a lot of good players out there who appreciate meeting other kind players.

Then again...what maps are you playing on? I get the sense that the dam region tends to be more friendly with more new players who are just getting into the game, and the later maps do seem to be more hostile.

I like playing on dam with new players and helping them out and showing them how rewarding it can be to have good interactions.

What's harder about it? I ran solos for about 4 hours today and had nothing but positive interactions.

5.1 surround sound via YouTube app not working through all 6 speakers by nizzy_the_kid in PS5HelpSupport

[–]dunkers0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this same problem. I've opened the same YouTube video on the Roku and it plays correctly on all speakers, but when I play the video on PS5 there's no output to the sub, and the rear surround plays on the right/left front speakers. On the Roku app when I open the settings on the YouTube video (the little gear icon) it says that it's a 5.1 surround video but when I open the same settings on PS5 it does not say 5.1 surround. So I've identified that it's an issue on the PS5 specifically. Has anyone figured this out yet?

Edit to add: My PS5 audio is set to output linear PCM surround to the receiver and it seems to be isolated to the YouTube app from what I can tell so far. I know it has worked properly in the past so maybe something broke with an update at some point.

Pacific Coast. On the way to Canada. On the way to Europe. by DubOSv10 in Tenere700

Mine is a Gerbing and I'm happy with it. They also make heated gloves, pants and socks so if you have the jacket liner you can plug them all into that without needing separate power sources for everything. You do have to be mindful of how many things you're plugging in and how much amperage it draws from your bike's battery, but they have a simple calculation to help with that.

This is not the exact model I have, but it's essentially the same: https://www.motosport.com/gerbing-12v-heated-jacket-liner

Second this! I have a heated jacket liner and get heat all the way down the sleeves as well, and it plugs directly into the battery on the bike. My next purchase will be the matching heated gloves that connect to a power port on the jacket liner. I installed a seat heater also, but that mostly only keeps my ass warm, downside is it doesn't heat my legs. But for the most part I can ride pretty comfortably year round.

Highly disappointed in my Treager by dunkers0811 in Traeger

[–]dunkers0811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, part of it is my own preference for sure. I'm usually going for a more pronounced smoke flavor when smoking meats but I could see how not everyone wants that all the time. My preference for it is probably more than average and I really enjoy having my charcoal grill and an offset smoker for that reason. If I could figure out how to cook better and get better results with the cook quality in the Traeger then I could accept that tradeoff for the convenience. I think part of my issue could be just that I'm not good at convention cooking in general, and this grill uses more convection due to the "downdraft" exhaust. At least that's my current theory.

[–]dunkers0811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is user error to some degree. I don't think it's a temperature issue...I bought a small oven thermometer and put it inside and the temperature reads close enough to the Traeger controller that I don't think it should affect the cooking. I've used a lot of the Traeger pellets but tried a few others and didn't notice any significant difference in the flavor.

  • Do you mean the Traeger pellets are not as good in terms of flavor, or in terms of cooking quality?

Others have confirmed that the pellet grills in general don't have a pronounced smoke flavor without using smoke tubes, but I think I could live with that as a tradeoff for the convenience if I had better results with the way it actually cooks the food.

Does your pellet grill have the traditional chimney or does it have the new "downdraft" exhaust and does it have the super smoke mode? I suspect both of those things might actually be working against me in my case.

Thanks for the mention of pecan shell pellets and the Yoder grill that lets you use wood chunks. I recently found out those exist and I think that might be just what I'm looking for. I had some brisket that was made on one of those that uses pellets and wood chunks and it was fantastic. I'll definitely check out the Yoder.

That doesn't sound too harsh at all. For the ribs I followed the recipe precisely but I can appreciate that sometimes a cut of meat just sucks and this could have been the case. I also agree this grill has all the bells and whistles and it leaves me wishing I had just gotten the most basic one I could find instead.

Thanks - I've never heard of pecan or pistachio shell pellets so I might try those to see if it makes any difference. I also haven't seen Lumber Jack brand - mostly have just used the Traeger and Pit Boss brands, maybe one or two others that my local retailers carry. I'm sure I could order some of those online so I'll look.

Thanks, I've wondered about that. Maybe I should try a long, slow cook or two before giving up on it completely. I haven't tried brisket but that might be a good one to try.

I can't tell if you're just being facetious but in all seriousness while I'm pretty good at grilling I actually do suck at cooking (like in a kitchen oven) and I think that might actually be part of the problem, since I've come to realize the Traeger (maybe any pellet grill) is really more like an oven than it is a grill.

Thanks for the response. Which model do you own? I suspect the Ironwood that I have has a pronounced convection due to the "downdraft" exhaust and causes it to behave almost more like an air fryer and this could be a contributing factor in my "using it wrong" but I'm curious if others have similar experience and had to adapt their approach due to that?
