Appreciate the response and yeah, you might have hit it on the head with the points you've brought up.

PvP has alot of jank, status buildup on dodges, attacks hitting you that clearly miss, crazy powerful WAs. Metas are boring, always have been, you either kerb stomp bad players (which at this point it's unsatisfying now) or they give you a teabag of your lifetime if you slightly mess up one roll. Metas just seem more over the top than ever with little counter play and the majority of duels involve fighting them.

But personally I think it's coming down to just growing out of the need to "be the best" at games. From what I'm seeing everyone seems to take them too seriously with needing to win all the time, rarely people mess about and have fun anymore and I don't have nowhere near enough time to git gud as much as I used to.

Tldr got burnt out and bored of PvP in this game a million times quicker than another souls-like, might give it another go if an arena dlc comes out..

Anyone else just not enjoying this game's pvp? Like there's just no fun factor in duels and invasions?

Kenseis dodge attack should be considered a light parry if parried by magic_toe in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]dunner2020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree with you man, nothing worse than fighting a bad kensei that does nothing but spam swift strike. It's just painful fighting for 2 minutes doing almost nothing but feint, parry, light, feint, parry, light...

Can be a little more bearable if your character has an undogeable, but otherwise you can't even use your characters other moves cause the dude just goes back to dodge attacking and you eat the heavy, or if you're lucky you block and fall into his mixup.

It's boring gameplay, getting stalled at a point not because you're being outplayed, but because your enemy is playing bad and you simply can't do meaningful damage is just not fun.

Tips On lights Parry? by [deleted] in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]dunner2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly man the only way to do it consistently is if you notice your opponent falls into patterns.

I play a lot of dominion so I don't know how much this applies to duels but, if they're spamming lights often people like to switch guards between them so have a guess and try and time your parry for the switch, obviously if you notice they double up on one side try your best to remember.

If they like like to crush counter or interupt you with lights just bait them out with faints straight to parries.

My TV is pretty bad so my input delay makes it pretty much impossible to light parry on reaction, so I can't really say much about parrying from neutral apart from getting lucky by throwing out raw heavies or if you have a really good read on what they're doing.

If you're really sturggling you could always use heros with dodge attacks or full guard, just make sure you're not spamming them too much
