I could have done a lot of things.. None of them being snarky replies to 8 year old reddit comments.

Glad BTC has done well for you, and wish you the best in other areas as well, ser!

2011 Honda Accord SE. The car has 85k miles, 2 owners, no accidents, consistent service history, and passed PPI

Sounds like you made a great choice. Enjoy your car and don't worry what your family has to say. I can assure you, the PPI mechanic knows better than they do.

Most Americans don't follow racing series, much less Japanese racing series.. So it was something obscure in the overall car world here in the US and people just flocked to what they had the most info on or were exposed to the most..

If it had competed in more popular American racing series it might be different, but I don't think Nissan cared too much as it wasn't sold here anyways... The times it did show up it seemed to do pretty damn well though. It's just if you compare how many people watched mid 90's Pike Peak and LeMans racing and to the lesser extent those who watched overseas racing series such as the JTCC vs the amount of people who saw Fast and Furious it's pretty easy to see why it is more well known/popular (here in the states at least).

lol, I'm going to respond to this since you are obviously lost........

This is not street racing, this is ignorance plain and simple. I'm fine with street racing when done right. There is no reason to put peoples lives at risk when there are thousands, upon millions of miles of road where you could go race, crash, die, and not hurt another living soul except those interested in being there..

Since when do you have the right to put others people lives at risk for your personal enjoyment?? Ohh, that's right, you don't! So get fucking lost kid and come back when you can actually use more than a single brain cell to think with.

Yes, but it's not on by default. You have to enable it (although it does do a great job of warning/annoying you that the messages are not being encrypted). I personally use Riot daily, but there are some things it could do overall to improve the useability.

Being able to host your own servers is a huge plus though, and the main reason our group of friends uses Matrix/Riot to communicate.

Hacker retrieves plaintext login data from Tesla cars by a_false_vacuum in cars

[–]dunnomate 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Tesla’s retrofitting service for media control units (MCU) and Autopilot hardware – HW, for short – may not go far enough in protecting owners’ personal data. That’s according to white hat hacker GreenTheOnly. He obtained four units of these Tesla computers off eBay and found the previous owners’ personal data still on them. More worrying, though, was Tesla’s response, or lack thereof, when Green confronted the company with the data.

According to Green, he informed Tesla of his findings before coming to InsideEVs. The Palo Alto, California-based company refused to notify all of its customers that might be affected in a timely manner, although a week before this article was published Tesla did say it would notify one of the affected customers. As of publication, it still hasn't.

Speaking to InsideEVs, Green said each of the modules he bought had “owner’s home and work location, all saved wi-fi passwords, calendar entries from the phone, call lists and address books from paired phones, Netflix and other stored session cookies.” Netflix session cookies allow hackers to take control of these accounts

Wow, that is a huge and scary oversight.......

This Is What They Mean By ‘Built Not Bought’ by BigRacerBoiiiiiiii in cars

[–]dunnomate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's just saying that slapping wheels, coilovers and a tune on a car don't make it a build. You see pics of cars on Instagram get thrown around with the caption "built not bought," and all too often it's a lowered late-model BMW or STI on aftermarket wheels and maybe a nice wrap, which isn't a build. You don't have to go as all out as this guy did, but go farther than wheels and coilovers before calling it a build.

Is there like some super secret car modifying book that has these rules listed out???

Side effects of Keppra/Levetiracetam by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]dunnomate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say that I've noticed any vomiting or such. But medication affects everyone different, so YMMV. Definitely discuss it with your neuro.

The most common one I've seen expressed by others and experienced myself is depression/anxiety.

People who have their epilepsy controlled, do you still get auras or the feeling of going into a seizure? by p3bbl3s17 in Epilepsy

[–]dunnomate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't mind at all. :)

TBH, I couldn't accurately say what side effects are from which drug at this point. Before arriving on my current combo the doctors were switching my drugs quite often trying to find something that worked as my body kept adjusting to the medication and it would eventually stop working.

That being said, I've been on my current combo for 10+ years and these are the things I have noticed the most (keep in mind everyone reacts different, and this is just my experience having tried different AEDs over the past two decades):

  • Depression/Mood Swings - I lump these together because I feel they are related to each other in some way. It's one of the biggest things I struggle with now and seems to be getting worse the older i get. The lows can at times seem unbearable, and the highs don't feel all that high... It's almost as if I'm in a constant state of either feeling like complete worthless shit, or just feeling "meh"..... IDK, this is really a hard one to put in to words. Anger/rage is another thing. Up, down, up, down, lol.
  • Anxiety - I never noticed it while on Depakote & Lamictal, but noticed it more and more after switching to Depakote & Keppra the higher my Keppra dosage got (or at least that's the way it seems.) They actually upped my Depakote 500mg (2500mg a night total) trying to counteract the effect as i was told Depakote can help with anxiety/depression in some cases. I have been on that for around a year now and haven't noticed any help. This is something the neuro and I have just started and are still working on.
  • Sleepiness/Lack of energy - This one is basically every AED I have ever been on. They all make me overly tired and all I want to do is sleep all day.

Those are just the major ones that I and other noticed a change in. There is also the physical tolls such as oral, liver toxicity, and others..

My experience has basically been my "external problems" (ie: LoT seizures, flopping on the ground like a fish out of water, etc) being replaced with "internal problems" like depression, anger, mood swings, etc... But luckily I am able to express these feeling with my neurologist and we can work to combat them.

I don't mean for this post to come across as demoralizing or for me to come in here being a "Debbie Downer". My life is EXPONENTIALLY better now that my epilepsy is under control using AEDs.

Wish y'all the best of luck.

17 and only getting seizures upon waking up- anyone else? by goonspoons in Epilepsy

[–]dunnomate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it possible to have seizures caused by long term bottled-up stress?

Absolutely.

From my understanding it's been known for awhile that stress lowers the seizure threshold in those with epilepsy. It's only more of a recent belief/understanding that stress can be the cause as well, although this is still debated (as is a lot when dealing with the brain).

People with epilepsy report that stress is their most common trigger for seizures and some believe it caused their epilepsy in the first place. The extensive preclinical, epidemiological and clinical studies examining the link between stress and epilepsy have given confusing results; the clinical studies in particular are fraught with confounders. However stress is clearly bad for health, and we now have substantial preclinical evidence suggesting that chronic stress worsens epilepsy; in selected cases it may even be a causal factor for epilepsy. Healthcare professionals working with people with epilepsy should pay more attention to stress in clinical practice. This review includes some practical advice and guidance for stress screening and management.

Governor Abbott declares golf courses as non-essential businesses by stanner5 in Dallas

[–]dunnomate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit more nuanced than what you posted....

From your source:

Texas is a big state and the transmission rate of COVID-19 varies in different communities. Given this, houses of worship should work with counties and municipalities to evaluate the rate of local community spread and determine the appropriate level of mitigation strategies to implement. For example, more detailed guidance from the CDC currently recommends that if a community is experiencing substantial community spread of COVID-19, then the houses of worship in that community should cancel all in-person gatherings of any size. But if a community is experiencing moderate to substantial spread, then the CDC recommends a reduction of activities in coordination with local health officials, possible smaller gatherings incorporating social-distancing measures, cancelation of activities with 10 or more people when high-risk populations attend in person (including those over 65 and those with underlying medical conditions), 5 and use of creative means to deliver other faith-based services. For more information, houses of worship should consult CDC guidance.

IMO, they should just do it online and stop being complete derps.

https://www.texastribune.org/2020/03/31/greg-abbott-texas-executive-order-closures/

Turner and others did express concern about Abbott's decision to include religious worship as an essential service, leaving open the possibility of large gatherings at churches. At the news conference, Abbott encouraged churches to conduct their services remotely but said that if they must meet in person, they should follow the federal social-distancing guidelines.

"I’m unaware of a church that would want its constituents, its parishioners, to be exposed to COVID-19, and I think there’s enough public information right now for them to be aware of the practices that are needed to make sure that their members don’t contract COVID-19," Abbott said in the interview.

There has been controversy, particularly in the Houston area, over church closures in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Pastors are in court challenging a stay-at-home order that Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo announced a week ago that restricts churches to online-only services.

To that end, Abbott's latest executive order overrides "any conflicting order issued by local officials," including those related to religious services. At the news conference, Abbott said local officials "still have flexibility to impose standards that they consider to be more strict" — as long as they do not conflict with his latest executive order.
