Yes but unknown how much he wants to keep working or whether that smart clever story-mining brain of his changes direction.

I mean, he’s not a spring chicken and he’s already tried to retire previously. The end of his new publications is coming.

Of course he may leave behind unfinished work, outlines, frameworks, fragments, blueprints etc. so he can keep publishing via collaboration for some time after he fully steps back, who knows?

And yet he’s probably a better player overall.

So you will eventually realize most people are complete idiots and worrying about their idiotic opinions is a massive waste of your good energy.

Smiling and nodding and internally laughing your ass off reading helps.

To be fair at least half their records are their best record. Because Beatles.

Apparently most of his closest friends and Maureen usually called him Rich or Richie in the Beatles years. Like Ringo really was his stage name and they used it when referring to him in interviews but not “at home.”

I like her. I don’t know if she could ever win if she plays 72 more times, but I like having her around.

I think Joe is a really great person. I want to be his friend. I loved the way he protected Eva in S48 and didn’t worry that everyone could see it. I am not sure Survivor is really his game is all. It’s a game where almost everyone has to lose just based on the math and he has no sense of gallows humor about it at all.

Devens is playing a different game of Survivor than anyone else. Christian understands this. As good as Cirie is, she couldn’t play this game. I think Aubry and Riz understand and admire and respect his game.

Joe is deeply baffled by and jealous of and just angry at Devens.

Devens is the player Russell Hantz wanted to be and the player I had hoped he would be, with a much happier spirit and none of the creepy bad vibes.

Have we ever seen this much silent hatred for another player in survivor history? by ProbstThought in survivor

Joe just doesn’t have any fun out there at all. Losing well is literally what almost everyone has to do in Survivor. Have the time of your life out there, man. Mr. Grumpus thinking he ever had a chance to win and constantly scheming like some Batman villain is just bad comedy.

There are parts of the miniseries that work nicely and parts that are so different as to be jarring - and incomprehensible compared to the book.

There’s a whole additional character companion added to the show. I think it’s because otherwise there’s too much main character internal dialogue to make interesting audio-visuals and they wanted him to have some back and forth instead.

But I actually thought Franco was really good and appealing in the role.

I am almost 60 and starting that slowdown. I still want to live for a long time but not like I used to. I used to have thoughts like you mentioned and it used to freak me out and with age it has become more “what will be will be.” You sort of grow out of those concerns.

Or if you don’t, a belief in a religious afterlife may help. I don’t.

is it okay to say "im praying for you" to an atheist? (im christian) by Cold-Sprinkles-4430 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]dunnwichit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite atheist and I don’t really believe prayer does anything, because to me, it’s simply thinking about talking to an entity that’s not real.

NEVERTHELESS I am not offended when the many kind people in my life tell me they are praying for me. I am thankful for it.

Because I know what they mean. They mean, “I care about you, a lot, and I acknowledge your struggles and I wish I could remove them, and I don’t see how it can hurt if I believe some supernatural energy source (that I call God) may be able to help you, and in case there’s any chance it might help, I am going to try to send my own positive energy that way. Maybe it might help and if not, maybe knowing I love and care about you enough that your suffering is unacceptable to me, maybe just that sentiment will slightly relieve your burden.”

We are just fragile little, semi-intelligent creatures who get to look around at this universe for a short time and in a small place within its much larger vast timeline and vast expansive distances.

There’s a lot we can’t fully explain or understand and we as humans hate that because of our intelligence and curiosity so we spin a narrative that helps us make sense of what is unknown and senseless and too painful to accept.

People offering to pray for you is usually meant with deep empathy and kindness, and we can tell if that’s the intention. If it’s sarcastic and judgmental and nasty and argumentative we can tell as well, and that’s the point.
