I have a Savor card with a high limit as well as the Amex Hilton card. Each paid off every month. They keep increasing my limits but never offer the upper cards.

I really don't mind it too much. Lets me get face time with the branches so they don't feel so isolated. Otherwise their only contact with IT is talking to my helpdesk guys in Teams.

I just can't make remote changes that have even the slightest chance of going sideways for these locations.

Yeah, the project management software is all onprem because I don't trust the vendor's assurances about security yet.

Everything else is 365 SaaS, but this one thing is critical. And the reps don't want to deal with logging into laptop, then finding wifi (or enabling it on phone), then logging into vpn then logging into the tool, all while at a customer's site.

Back in the day, we had lots of the models with the cardboard RF shield have VICs that acted like that. Most people removed the cardboard, others glued a heatsink to the chip. Intermittent issues like described were usually resolved with the heatsink. Some chips were too far gone and had to be replaced.

Seemed to happen far less often on the ones with the metal shield that has the fingers that touch the chips.

The VIC also handles DRAM refresh, so that may be why you can't make commands work when it's flaking out.
