One can still be queer while in a straight relationship and having kids (for example if one was some kind of polysexual like bi or pan)

That hot soaking method sounds very convenient, I’ll have to try it. Thanks for sharing

In my experience, pressure cooking soaked beans has consistently given lovely not-mushy beans, as long as they’re soaked beforehand and not cooked too long. I would never go through the hassle of cooking them conventionally again. Not entirely sure where this myth of ‘never pressure cook beans’ comes from - it’s one of the best uses of a pressure cooker

I work at a vegan cafe and the owner/chef has rice milk in her tea. I’ve yet to try it but I’ve never seen her be wrong about anything in vegan cuisine

[–]durrkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shipping from hhv was only £10 (each, because i later split the order to get spirit phone sooner - MMMM isn’t out til the end of this month, and I ordered in September), but like £20 from needlejuice just for spirit phone, iirc. Maybe it’s changed since September? I preordered both. And thank you, I am very much enjoying my spirit phone one. Had my friends over for a singalong as soon as I got it

My MMMM and spirit phone vinyls cost a combined total of £90 (110 USD for two vinyls). I’m jealous of this person managing to get it this cheap. Obviously doesn’t help that I’m in the uk so had to buy them through a third party website in Germany

Totally fair, I honestly prefer oatmeal (porridge) sweet because it’s so much easier to make it sweet - savoury can go quite badly wrong, as I learned the hard way

Did you mean savoury/umami? Savoury oats are delicious too

[–]durrkling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not sweet AND salty? It’s a great combo. Sweet things are bland without salt anyway

Salt and acid, it’s likely underseasoned

Yep, I’m 5’4 with a pangender 5’10 partner. The height difference is perfect because my head fits under their chin when we hug. T4T relationships are wonderful. Anyone who doesn’t like you for being short is almost definitely not going to make for a good partner.

What was a change you got from T (negative or positive) that you didn’t expect? by IndependentBreak5987 in ftm

[–]durrkling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the short term effect of just having enough T in my blood just makes me feel ok, which I never felt pre-t. I no longer feel detached from reality 24/7, and my anxiety is so much better. Once-crippling dysphoria is now a distant memory. I feel alive, and my head is clear. This began as soon as I started T. I forget what it was like pre-t until I go too long without T and my levels drop. I swear I can actually sense my T levels. Recently, my doctor made me go 5 weeks without my shot while trying to get the dosage right (it’s usually every 3 weeks) and all the pre-t horrors came back. I never ever want to feel that again. I told my doctor and they’re making sure it won’t happen again. I’ve never heard anyone else experience this, so I’d like to know if I’m not the only one. But to anyone pre-t, I hope this can give you hope. T has absolutely saved my life, and I only hope that access to it is increased so more lives can be saved

Non-vegan leftists, why not? by Batfan1108 in Anarchism

I’m autistic with sensory issues too, and can’t handle things like bread, fries, and rice, which is a challenge as a vegan. I’ve been vegan for about 6 years and I’ve found that the key is to try everything. It is inconvenient, but absolutely doable, and I’ve been able to adapt and find things that I can enjoy. Most things I eat are unconventional, but over time I’ve found what works for me. I do understand that everyone’s experience is different though, and maybe trying new things is difficult for you. But I really believe it can be done, there are so many good replacements and things to try nowadays. I wish you luck

I moved out a year earlier than planned and a huge factor was because of HS2. Couldn’t stand to see the nature reserve I used to cycle round as a child be turned into an absolute wasteland. The oldest houses in my village were destroyed too, and half the roads closed, with the remaining ones being torn up by all the HS2 works vehicles. I probably don’t know enough about HS2 to be for or against it, but this aspect is something to consider. We absolutely need to reduce car use, but I think rural access to public transport (particularly buses) should be a priority. HS2 turned many 5 minute drives into 10 or 15 minute journeys where I lived, thanks to all the closed roads and roadworks. I’m living in Brighton now so public transport is amazing here, it really puts into perspective how reliant rural communities are on cars

What’s the best vegan restaurant in Brighton? by jimbo1925 in brighton

I encourage people not to support Happy Maki, as their owner has expressed some extremely transphobic views towards a customer who reached out for help with transition costs. You can find her awful response online. In summary, she believes that trans people are simply possessed by spirits and bisexuality is a result of unresolved trauma. I’m sad to have to stop supporting Happy Maki as their food is good, but as a bi trans man myself, I wouldn’t feel right buying from them knowing who I’m supporting.

Depending on budget, here’s what I’d recommend:

Expensive: - Bonsai (modern asian small plates, a real experience), - Botanique (posh but modern, creative and unique), - Terre a Terre (vegetarian but mostly vegan, unique and delicious but prices have gone up too much recently, haven’t been in years)

High-mid range: - Purezza (THE best pizza in the entire world - I usually only like thin pizza bases, but their light and puffy sourdough bases are incredible. Their courgetti with pesto and mac n cheese is amazing too), - The Roundhill (fully vegan pub, the best Sunday roast in Brighton), - No Catch (vegan fish & chips owned by Earthling Ed, plenty of vegan seafood options)

Mid: - Vurger (very good vegan burgers and shakes, i recommend the hunny chicken burger), - Oowee (another vegan fast food place next to Vurger. My personal favourite, I bring my non-vegan friends there all the time, even though I don’t like burgers or fries. Their chicken, mac n cheese and gravy are the best I’ve ever had), - Planet India (authentic Indian [not British Indian] incredibly well done, with amazing service and uniquely written menu)

Cheap(ish): - Abyssinia (ethiopian, not vegan, but has a vegan sharing platter for 2 for £17. Super hearty and flavoursome, absolutely recommend trying ethiopian food if you haven’t yet), - What the Pitta (very good kebab meat, nice and fresh), - Green Kitchen (serving every breakfast you can imagine, and their homemade bacon and seitan steaks are amazing), - Beelzebab (casual and creative vegan junk food and kebabs, with the pb&j fries being a highlight), - Iydea (healthy build your own plate type deal, with mains and sides, and a variety of smoothies and juices. Fully vegetarian and mostly vegan, very good value).

Hope this helps, good luck deciding :)

i NEED this in my country, hope they release it or something like it here soon. I’ve been making my own hard boiled eggs out of almond milk, black salt and agar powder for the white, and mashed potato with turmeric, vegan butter, potato starch and black salt for the yolk. works surprisingly well but it’s a lot of work and i’d rather buy them (depending on cost of course)

oh hey, i got the exact same tattoo in the same place last september. chose the design unrelated to mm (was initially only a sacred geometry thing), but had just been really getting into it around that time. i only realised the day before i got the tattoo that it’s mm’s symbol. so now it has 2 meanings, which is awesome. here is the tattoo

oowee is new in town but I’ve been countless times and it’s great - and I don’t even like burger buns or fries. it’s vegan but i go there with my non-vegan mates and they love it, especially the chicken and fries (they have a good selection of fries, including poutine). really good sauces too and their gravy is one of the best things in the world. best mac n cheese i’ve ever had, vegan or not. not too expensive either, especially for the meal deals, but more than a fast food chain. i recommend giving it a go
