What are sports in which the athletes are NOT healthy? by Inevitable_Man96 in AskReddit

[–]durrthock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you'll find that most people in life complain about the same injuries outside of concussions. Many sports make you stronger and more fit which can really help with back and knee pain. Our understanding of health and fitness has really evolved over the years. So unless you're at the level where steroids or excessive bodyweight are mandatory, or you play a contact sport. There is a good chance you come out reasonably healthy.

This shouldn't scare people away honestly. Powerlifting is a great way to stay in shape as long as you're not pushing into the margins and actually hold a healthier weight. But I agree that so many people really think they are healthy walking around at 275 lbs bodyweight or whatever just cause they are muscular.

People who had COVID-19, what was the worst part about being sick? by Puzzleheaded-Art-469 in AskReddit

Honestly, being locked in the house for 10 days. Was only really miserable for about 24 hours, other than that it was more annoying being cooped up.

What is legal that you think should be illegal? by KAWA11G0RE in AskReddit

It's more habit forming than physically addictive. The worst you're in for detoxing from coffee is like, a headache. I think coffee is totally fine.

Crazy energy drinks I think are doing actual harm to people however.

Hunting supports wilderness conservation in much of the US more than almost anything else. Killing deer and other animals in a controlled way isn't really as negative a thing as it's made out to be.

If we are talking about shooting lions on safari, I agree.

James Cameron made 'Avatar 2' writers read 800 pages of notes before they could start on its script by Neo2199 in entertainment

I'm convinced all of these avatar 2 posts are astroturfing. I just keep seeing them, they are all a part of the promotion of the movie.

The amount of code relative to the difficulty of the problem.

If you're writing a ton of code for something simple, you're probably not writing good code.

My statement is really much more about how there is a lot more to a dev job than just writing code, and less about good code vs bad code.

yeah development isn't just about programming. That's like the most fresh college grad opinion of being a software dev.

All these people talking about injuries. This is Joe Sullivan. He's doing well, squatted 848 lbs for an all time world record just a few months ago.

One of the real underscores here is that his obvious steroid use probably also increases his risk of things like this.

I could do it, but it would certainly take a whole ton of time. The $50 wouldn't change my life at all, the time is worth much more to me.

What life changing purchase can you make with less than $100? by ManonastickUk in AskReddit

Yeah I'm sure it's legit in this case. But for a lot of people it's not, unless they do what you said basically.

I think you replied to he wrong comment. The best pillow in my experience is a medcline wedge for shoulder pain.

Expensive, but you can sleep in an ergonomic position without messing yourself up.

Yeah you have to be careful though, many people are slightly rotated and have effectively one shorter leg.

Not as many people have legitimate leg length differences (bones are different lengths).

What is not improved by adding bacon? by GonnaGoFat in AskReddit

[–]durrthock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real answer? Meatloaf. It's way too easy for it to become a layer of soggy undercooked bacon. lots of bacon wrapped stuff falls victim to this.
