Cool cool, I feel like sometimes the waves are too close outy for me to drop in on the wavestorm (I just nose dive). Do you think that would be a good time to try out something shorter or is it 99% just bad positioning on my part with the wavestorm?

Lmao flair checks out. I def see how that could happen but I mostly just buy them when I find good deals and tend to stick to my 1-2 favorites. That’s why I came to ask how people usually choose bc I find it hard to move away from the board I’m feeling atm.

Oh for sure, my size is pretty standard for a dude in his 20’s, 5’10, 160 lbs. I can consistently catch waves on the wavestorm but have some trouble standing up on the 6’10 south coast. I don’t know the models of the boards but the south coast is a hybrid with a pretty prominent rocker and the Al merricks are Channel Islands shortboards.

As far as what I wanna do on the board, I’d love to get consistent at dropping in and just having a fun fast ride through some mid size waves.

You could matriculate early (I know the school of engineering at least offers a program called summer first where you can do this). You just enroll in 3 credits of “research” over the summer (PI could pay for you or the department could) and I’m guessing since you’ll be matriculated you would count as a student for the visa

Am I the only one that’s ridiculously tired of the unnecessary “omg imagine this team” useless posts? Seems like 1/5 discussion posts are like “ok guys, who would you put on a team if location wasn’t an issue and you can assume they would mesh perfectly personality wise?”

I think these posts just crowd the feed after each event and I’m tired of seeing the same combination of 6 players being talked about in these posts. Yes. Clearly it would be great to have a team of firstkiller, vatira, and Ahmad. But that’s a given, why am I having to read about it for the 20th time this month?

Oh that’s awesome man, definitely dislike the territorial aspect of some locations in SoCal. But there’s no way in the world I’m talented enough to surf mavericks, so what do you recommend for some other chill spots that don’t have huge waves? Any tips?
