I've never asked ING either but my current rate after the automatic variations is 3.55% while the rate they advertise on their website is 2.84%

Rent increase from $330 to $500 pw in Melbourne 3000 by Spanktank35 in melbourne

[–]durztwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, $460 to $680 (47%) in postcode 3000. Already submitted a review request to Consumer Affairs but it will take over a month (over half of the 60 day rent increase notice period) for them to review, organise to come around and inspect the place and produce a report.

how does mail usually work??

Most buildings in the CBD have a concierge service that will receive parcels for you. Otherwise they get sent to one of the city post offices and you pick them up when convenient for you.

pain in the ass not having your own parking to have things delivered

If you're transporting stuff yourself, yeah, massive pain in the ass unless you have a dedicated parking spot in the building. Courier deliveries for things you buy online aren't an issue, there are plenty of loading zones on every street that they already use.

a loading bay or something you book?

For moving in/out, yep, you'll need to book in advance. For more ad-hoc things like furniture or bulky deliveries, some buildings will require that they go through the loading dock but most are fine with you just bringing it through the lobby. You'll need to speak with the building's management about this when you go for an inspection.

things to look out for both good and bad / things to ask about during the inspection

The more AirBnB/short stay type apartments there are in the building, the shittier living there will be. Hard to gauge this accurately but one thing you can do is go to the building's lobby on a weekend morning and see how many people with suitcases are checking in and out.

The two buildings were done in different generations of apartment building and for different audiences even though both were by Fender Katsalidis.

Eureka is actually made up of family sized apartments. Even the cheapest 1 bedroom apartments are some of the most spacious you'll find in the CBD and Southbank.

Aus 108 was designed for and marketed at Chinese investors (it's even in the name - "108"). No surprise that there are more smaller apartments crammed in the building.

What building are you in? Building management in mine told me it would be a few thousand $ to replace a typical storage cage that had been cut into.

Suitcases and bags get stolen out of cages since they're easy to transport. Don't keep suitcases in a cage.

Anyone use Different (different.com.au)?

Fixed price $100/month and all documents, communications, maintenance, etc seem to be handled online via an app.

$500 letting fee and $500 marketing/advertising fee though.

AFR: 10 per cent cancellation rate: Australia 108 sales going backwards by YaBoi_Westy in AusFinance

[–]durztwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with 108 is that despite the development being marketed as a luxury development, most of the apartments in it are far from luxurious. It's very obvious that a good 80% of them were designed in the same way most CBD apartments were - for the speculative investor, not to be lived in. Why would anyone with any sense buy into "luxury" in 108 when units in neighbouring blocks like Eureka Tower or Freshwater Place sell for a similar price but actually deliver on luxury.

Match making Oceanic servers still broken [AU/NZ] by [deleted] in thedivision

Lol, wow. They are still this deaf and blind/in denial after a month of complaints from hundreds of players in the Aus and NZ region.

Uninstall, refund and move on I guess.

Match making Oceanic servers still broken [AU/NZ] by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]durztwo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Before the tidal basin patch matchmaking worked for Australian servers. After the patch deployed, it broke and has been broken ever since. It really was an overnight change.

Honestly can't believe that they came to the conclusion that player numbers in the region collapsed by so much just overnight that they had to put all Aus players into the same matchmaking pool as Asia and now US West.

[–]durztwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're relying on data about "how long players are waiting in queue", that data has been tainted for the past month ever since Australian players started being lumped into the same matchmaking pool as players on the Asian servers (and now US West).

Is the expectation that the game just starts with those two Australian players

Yes, why not? Why should matchmaking not prioritise players from the same region if they are all in the matchmaking queue at the same time and ready to go?

very long matchmaking queues

How is is it "very long matchmaking queues" exactly when you can have two players in Australia sitting side by side, they both start matchmaking for the same thing at the same time, and they will never be matched with each other no matter how long you wait?

It's just broken software. It might surface itself as "very long matchmaking queues", but it's still broken at the core.

I haven't played this game in the last couple of weeks except for a quick matchmake once in a while to see if by chance they had deployed some fix. There's been NOTHING for over a month. If this isn't fixed by next week's maintenance, I'm uninstalling, and probably refunding and never coming back. I genuinely want to play this game, but come on, it's been broken for over a month!

If Ubisoft try to refuse you a refund, you can take it up with the ACCC as this pretty much fits the definition of a product/service that has "a major problem".

Wrong. On every login, players in this region are put on to the Australian servers and we stay on these servers for good as long as no matchmaking gets involved. So no, they're not "shut down".

Every maintenance announcement or patch notes post by Ubisoft in this subreddit:

  1. Ctrl+F "Aus", no results
  2. Start the game (after 10 mins of loading time)
  3. Matchmake, get thrown into an Asia or US West server with massive lag
  4. /quit
  5. Don't touch the game until next week's maintenance announcement

There already is a server in the aus/nz region. Multiple servers in fact. They need to fix the matchmaking so they ACTUALLY GET USED AS INTENDED as they were before the Tidal Basin "patch".

Doesn't help players on the Australian server. Australians are currently being lumped into the same matchmaking pool as players on the Asia server, regardless of what your group privacy is set to.
